not sure if there is any special instructions to remove it but you can get to it from behind the glovebox.
1) open the glovebox
2) Press in on the sides of the glovebox and continue to pull down ( thanks flo for the tip )
3) Glovebox will swing to the ground and you'll see the ECU on the right side.
4) pull the connectors off and take it out?
5).....
6) profit from the vrrrrm psssssh
