thought this was a good idea, not to mention it's its putting Toronto into the 21 century.

Full Story
Now you can search kiddie porn from OUTSIDE the elementary school.

Not the geatest idea in my eyes....

Yet there are people still living on our streets.?

You want internet??? goto StarF*u*ks.
I agree... now you'll have hobos with crank laptops surfing for pictures of hotdogs and sleeping bags. Wonderful.

Spend the cash on getting the people off the streets, cleaned up, and into society as productive individuals.
First six months are free, then they will start charging, its a money making venture of course.

I think its an awsome idea.
I think its money that could be better spent. They're thinking about doing this in Hamilton. Cuz ya know we don't have enough money issues in Hamilton, whats one more added expense.
Ahhh, much like downtown Brantford the last time I was there...they are building some new market square and a park with water features or something like that, that the kiddies can play in...forget the fact that almost all of the 1st and 2nd floors of every building on colbourne street is vacant, and that the casino is losing revenue...

:P
and in less than one month months, you can get broadband internet into your house without a phone line or cable line.... I know cus I have it rite now

Yeah, downtown Brantford is scary empty. I go there for meetings every three months for work and it seems the town gets emptier & emptier every time I drive through there.

The casino is losing money too? Uh oh, that's some bad mojo there...

RE: Turning T.O. into one giant wi-fi hotspot

Y'know, maybe I'm just thinking about this too much here, but has anyone stopped to consider what the long term health effects of having all this wi-fi data traffic passing through the air & us is going to be? I'm really wondering if we aren't setting up T.O. to become the next cancer hotspot, NVM wi-fi hotspot

NefCanuck
The scary thing about brantford is, the downtown is getting emptier. and looks crappier every time i'm up there. But the housing values are going up exponentially.

Downtown brantford needs a huge facelift, god knows what else. but i know for certain... colborne st. is causing brantford to lose lots of money. If you talk to any of the new home builders on the bsar. they lose a couple deals a week, because people say they dont want to live anywhere near colborne.

IE. the 4 pawnshops on 1 block, and the rest of the vacant, run down buildings.

I may be new to the town, but i think that whole area needs to be flattened, and they should start again

Pawnshops all over? Sounds like Orillia!

Or is that Huntsville. One of em, right by the ONR bus terminal, has crazy amounts of pawn shops downtown. Ick.

Toronto really doesn't need this. There are a lot more serious issues to address than this in Toronto right now.
What What? Am I hearin this correct? Bradford has turned into a Hot-spot already?

Well the difference is, its not the city of toronto turning it into a hotspot. its Toronto hydro (telecom) i assume its a subsidiary of toronto hydro. so in the end its just another company trying to launch a new service.

and Paolo... i know all about the wireless net... Ive been by my buddies house hes on the beta test team... at first it was pretty wonky... but now its not bad.. i cant wait for it to be in the mainstream

and no. brantford isnt a hotspot yet.. not that i know of... i think we were all just commenting on where money would be better spent.

Cool, I'm on the Rogers Betatest team for Broadband Wi-max arround in the GTA, well actually it will be 94% of the Canadian population later on. Its basicaly anyone who wants highspeed doesnt need a cable line or pots telephone line, heck, you dont even need a fixed address.
