Hyundai Canada to replace wounded soldier's vehicle

Markham, Ontario – Hyundai Canada will replace Master Corporal Paul Franklin's 2003 Santa Fe with a 2005 model fitted with hand controls, following the Canadian soldier's return from Afghanistan where he was injured.

Franklin was one of three Canadian soldiers severely injured in a suicide car bombing in Afghanistan on January 15; the attack also killed Canadian diplomat Glyn Berry. Franklin lost his left leg below the knee.

The three wounded soldiers arrived home in Edmonton, where Hyundai Canada and Northstar Hyundai in Edmonton announced that they would replace Franklin's 2003 Santa Fe, equipped with a manual transmission, with a brand-new 2006 Santa Fe with an automatic transmission, at no charge. Shoppers Home Healthcare in Edmonton will have the vehicle fitted with manual hand controls.
