Hello All,

Anyone have this problem before?

I was driving at about 130kms today on the 401 and they my car starts jerking. The cars overdrive light came on and I couldnt turn it off (Automatic transmission of course)

So I was driving pretty slow 90kms...cause my rmps were at 4000 if I drove at 100kms (i was paranoid)

I finally got to work. Shut the engine off and restarted and the Overdrive button worked.

Anyone know what the problem might be? (Im at 115,000kms 2002 ZX5)

Faulty wiring?
possibly faulty wiring in the overdrive button located on the shifter switch, or a sensor on the tranny has gone bad.. lets hope its not the later... take it into ford.
What were the RPM's doing?

The rpms went from 3000rpm at 100km/hr to 4000rpm at 100km/hr when the overdrive shut off
Zetecs do 3000 at 100? Holy crap

That sounds a tad high, even with the shorter final drive of the Zetec auto.

Have you ever flushed the tranny / changed the filter?
3000rpms @ 120 in 5th gear for me :D 3500rpm when I start pushing 135+, 4th gear today 4500-5000rpm 140 :D
It could be the valve body is sticking or one of the other various solenoids.
At 100Kph I'm just over 2500Rpm. 3000 Rpm I'm at 110Kph. Thats when the torque converter lockup kicks in, before it kicks in everything is about 200 Rpm higher. I could see 100Kph with the over drive off being 3000Rpm. The wife has the same thing, Zetec with a slush box
