When we bought our 2000 Focus wagon I liked the way it handled. In particular, the steering wheel was the right size - I find most too big - and the power steering bias was almost perfect.

But, as always, I wanted a little more. Now, with eibach sway bars and rear suspension, KW adjustable fronts, etc... etc... (you can see the list below) I'm very happy with its handling and braking.

Engine mods are pretty minor but I prefer working on handling/brakes first. For a wagon, it's a blast to drive and I'd be quite happy to drive for a long time just as it is. Extra power will just be icing-on-the-cake.

cheers, happyguy.

Turbo it.

Nice to see someone enjoying a wagon.
A happy Ford customer?

Your an anomally. Welcome to my side of the club!
Yup, another satisfied Focus owner. I'm in that catagory too. :)

And beleive it or not, I feel the same way about the performance. I love the way this car handles... but as for upgrades, an intake for some nice sound (even though it sounds great already), sway bars, and maybe springs are good enough to start. It's liberating to drive the Focus, especially when I get in Honda's and other NA vehicles.
On the whole i'm a happy ford owner, well except for the stupid ignition cylinder. The new parts tho add a whole new dimension to how the focus feels, especially the new coil-overs.

No ... he said he was a happy Ford owner ... there is a reason I've leased 6 Focus (5 wagons) and that's because I've really, really liked the cars, especially the wagon -- even stock the combination of performance/dynamics, looks, comfort, safety and utility is excellent IMO. So even though I won't be modding my wagon unless I buy it, I'm with you Dadstoy - I'm happy with my wagon (even if the company sux a$$.)
Leased 6 Focus'? Either you have a very large family, get a new car for the wife every year, or you are Canada's worst driver and right the car off every 9 months or so?

Yeah, despite all the recalls etc..., I have fun everytime I drive. During our very first test drive, the Focus just felt right. Still does.

Yeah ... funny you should say that ... combination of everything you listed. Even came close to having #7.

1) 2000 SE Sport sedan (mine) - power seemed way down from my '97 Mystique but nice room inside. Only Sport had black interior - nice. Transfered lease to colleague after 1 year because I wanted a wagon.

2) 2000 SE Wagon Sport (wife's) - light years ahead of the '97 Escort wagon it replaced. Turned in after 1 year when they introduced the ZTW option package. Sport package on wagon did not include fogs or spoiler but did add Zetec and alloy wheels.

3) 2001 SE wagon with ZTW package (wife's, replaced #2) - gold with tan leather, moonroof, fogs, 16" wheels, 6-pack CD, was misbuilt with Street Edition suspension - added 20% tint - loved it! (I got t-boned by pickup running red light - write off. Pushed over the guardrail and halfway down the hill to 410, on its side - cop says "what kind of minivan is that anyway?" My only injury was 2nd degree burns on wrist from air bag - still f*cken itches to this day.

4) 2001 ZTW - replaced wife's car that was totalled - same car plus I got side air bags on this one. Turned in end of lease with 87,000 km. Except for brakes, relatively trouble free.

5) 2002 ZTW (mine) - black with grey leather, 16" wheels, moonroof, 5-speed, 20% tint, 6-pack, side air bags - looked amazing with tint. Got a lot of compliments on this car. (joined FocusCanada.net about this time, hence the name). Turned in end of lease with 92,000 km. Except for brakes, relatively trouble free.

6) 2004 ZTW (wife's current) - she went with silver this time ... I liked the gold better. Loaded and side air bags again ... but even with addition of heated seats and mirrors and TC, monthly payment less than the car it replaced. Tightest Focus we've had, Pirelli's are a nice change, dealer gave me the cross rails off the '01 because they were decontented for '04 - later to find out it was missing heat ducts ... fantastic value nonetheless.

7) 2005 ST - ordered but later cancelled when FoC decided my loyalty wasn't worth putting the missing heat ducts in my wife's car.

The end ... literally and figuratively.
Turbo Focus Wagon would be bad ass.

Sleeperific
