So many mixed answers, and ideas. I asked even on non focus sites and there is never a straigth answer.

Is it ok to run UDPs with a turbo?

I think it shouldnt matter since the turbo runs on exhaust. Where as the s/c it would cause problems. I know dean put my pullies on his turbo and I dont think he ran into any problems. I got the pullies now so should I keep them and use them or should I sell them again.

I guess it pretty much I got to see who has done it and who hasent if there really is no answer.
afx udp and turbo here.
i bet you have yet to run into any of the problems some people have talked about. I think im going to put them in to. I got the FC 2 peice though.

#Don't run it,even though the turbo runs off the exhaust gases, but you want the water pump and alternator to function 100% not less than that for a boosted car. B)
I spoke with the guys at http://www.escortfocus.com about their 50% UDP and my reservations about running it and having cooling be a serious factor. Here's what they said:

Have you ever had negative feedback or noticed negative effects on the cooling system of the SPI after installing the 50% UDP?
No, the pulley doesn't run the water pump or fan. That runs off the timing belt. The UDP controlls the A/C compresor, power steering pump, alternator, and air pump if it has one.
What is the known potential for the SPI to overheat while running the 50% UDP?
Again, has no effect on heating. If anything, the engine may run slightly cooler due to less load on the engine.
Alternatively, are either of the above concerns applicable to the 25% UDP you also sell?
Does not apply. You will get better economy and performance from the 50% UDP.

I don't know about the Zetec, but apparently the SPI's water pump isn't driven by the main serpentine belt... which makes the cam belt-driven anyways because it's driving the water pump?

I'm going to try to have the UDP installed before the dyno day. :)

I'd say go for it Jay... how can you really have any detrimental effects from it?

Not yet at least. I wont be removing it anytime soon.
