Transport Canada announces latest recalls
Aug. 17, 2010.

Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has announced its latest recalls, which may affect some Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Subaru, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Jaguar, BMW, Toyota and Honda vehicles.

2010 Dodge Nitro
2010 Dodge Ram 1500
2010 Jeep Liberty
2010 Jeep Wrangler
Vehicles affected: 3,400
Certain vehicles may have an improperly-formed master cylinder to hydraulic control unit brake tube assembly, which could lead to a loss of brake fluid and reduced braking performance. Dealers will repair the affected vehicles.

2010 Ford Transit Connect
Vehicles affected: Customer Satisfaction Campaign Only
On certain vehicles, the headliner push pin at the B-pillar may not absorb sufficient energy to conform to the U.S. specific regulatory requirement for unbelted occupant protection in an interior impact. Canadian vehicles comply with all Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; Ford of Canada said that it is voluntarily conducting this customer satisfaction program to reassure Transit Connect owners.

2010 Chevrolet Express
2010 GMC Savana
Vehicles affected: 217
Certain vehicles equipped with a 145 amp alternator may develop a low-resistance short within the voltage regulator. In some cases, if the circuit does not open, the short could eventually generate enough heat to result in an engine compartment fire. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace any suspect alternator.

2010-2011 Subaru Legacy
2010-2011 Subaru Outback
Vehicles affected: 102
On certain vehicles, a lubrication hole within the six-speed manual transmission transfer case was not drilled during the machining process. This could lead to premature wear or breakage of third gear, which could lead to a loss of power if third gear breaks while the vehicle is in motion. Dealers will repair the affected vehicles.

2010 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Vehicles affected: 376
On certain vehicles, the spring plate which is mounted at the oil filler neck and fixes it at the cylinder head cover may crack and result in an engine oil leak. Dealers will replace the affected oil filler necks.

2009-2010 Nissan Cube
Vehicles affected: 779
On certain vehicles, the passenger side curtain airbags may have been incorrectly positioned during vehicle assembly, which may prevent a portion of the bag from fully deploying in certain types of crashes. The airbag will still deploy in a timely manner, meeting or exceeding applicable safety standards. Dealers will replace the side curtain airbag. This action is a customer satisfaction campaign and is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

2009-2010 Nissan Cube
Vehicles affected: 5,384
Certain vehicles may not meet the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 301 – Fuel System Integrity. After a rear impact crash test during a compliance testing program, the post-crash fuel spillage exceeded the limit specified by the standard. Dealers will repair affected vehicles.

2010 Jaguar XF
2010-2011 Jaguar XK Series
Vehicles affected: 351
On certain vehicles equipped with a 5.0-litre V8 engine, the in-tank fuel pump may not correctly activate following the vehicle start-up cycle. The engine may start and continue to operate as normal, until fuel demand exceeds the ability for the pump to supply sufficient fuel. The engine can then cut out without warning. Dealers will repair the affected vehicles.

2010-2011 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo
2010-2011 BMW 5 Series
Vehicles affected: 456
On certain vehicles, the sender unit within the fuel tank could become stuck, causing the fuel gauge to display a greater quantity of fuel than that which is actually remaining in the tank. A repair is to be announced.

2011 Buick Regal
Vehicles affected: 188
Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110. The spare tire size is listed incorrectly, with the letter “T” missing on the tire pressure label. The label should properly indicate the spare tire size as T125/80R16. Since this does not pose an immediate risk to vehicle safety, no corrective action is required.

2000-2004 Toyota Avalon
Vehicles affected: 4,200
On certain vehicles, there is a possibility that a minute crack may develop on the surface of the steering lock bar, a component of the steering interlock system. Such a crack may expand over a period of repeated lock and unlock operations, and eventually the lock bar could break. If this occurs, the interlock system may be difficult to unlock when stationary. If the vehicle is steered to the right with sufficient lateral acceleration while in motion, a broken and loose lock bar may move toward the steering shaft. If the engagement hole in the shaft happens to line up at the specific time the broken lock bar has moved, it could cause the steering wheel lock bar to engage, resulting in a sudden loss of steering control. Dealers will replace the steering interlock device.

2003-2007 Lexus LX470
Vehicles affected: 520
On certain vehicles, a snap ring on the steering shaft may disengage when the vehicle experiences an unusually severe impact to the front wheels, such as striking a pothole. If the snap ring disengages and the steering wheel is then repeatedly turned to the locked position, over time the steering shaft may disconnect, resulting in a sudden loss of steering control. Dealers will inspect and repair affected vehicles.

2003-2010 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG
Vehicles affected: 114
On certain vehicles, the turn signal protective grill for off-road operation may interfere with the luminosity requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108. Dealers will install improved turn signal lamps.

2003 Acura 1.7EL
2003 Honda Accord Coupe
2003 Honda Accord Sedan
2003 Honda Civic Sedan
2003 Honda Civic Coupe
2003-2004 Honda Element
Vehicles affected: 44,185
On certain vehicles, and under certain conditions, the interlock lever of the ignition switch may wear prematurely, which can allow the interlock function to be defeated if the driver does not shift the gear selector into Park before turning the ignition key to the off position. If the key is removed when the shifter has not been shifted to Park, the vehicle can roll away. Dealers will repair affected vehicles.
that one for the avalon and lexus certainly isn't a comforting thought lol.
