Hello,

By way of intro, I am a long-time Ford fan, currently responsible for care and feeding of a 2003 Zetec SE Wagon, and a brand-spanking new 2010 SE Sedan (those year-end closeout prices were too good to pass up). I am also the foster parent for a 2005 SES ZX5.

I have attached a "family portrait" that also includes a 1995 Escort wagon and a 1979 Citroen 2CV (that explains the "Duck" part of my pseudonym) . Sadly the Escort went to the Big Recycling Centre in the Sky as part of the deal for the 2010.

My previous history includes quite a few assorted Fords, domestic and imported, as well as some other excursions off the Blue Oval Path.

Looking forward to learning a lot here on the Forum.

DuckCanuck,

Welcome to the site.

Carp eh? I believe I've been there.

There is at least one member from Ottawa - hope he chimes in.

Good pic of your fleet; I like the wagon first, then the Cirtroen.

Enjoy the site and members.

2009...
Welcome and I'm surprised that with that 2CV you didn't choose "SnailCanuck" as your handle Wink (In Europe those things things are referred to as snails because of their shape)

Woah how'd you get that 2CV???
Indeed, welcome!

Some of us are in the exact same boat - on our Nth Focus since the 1999 release and are unable to enjoy driving much else. Smile

I do make exceptions for the fine automobiles from the land of Zuffenhausen, but other than that... Ford it is.

There's a wealth of collected PDF "How To" files here, and I can't stress the importance of a Haynes / Chilton repair manual enough for your 2003.

In fact, my "borrowed" copy of a 2000/01 manual is right here on my desk.

Well, it was one of those things that grew on me over time. I used to think they were just weird and ugly. Then I dug into the engineering, and got fascinated.

My inlaws live in France, so there was a bit of a connection there.

I tried to find a 2CV in France, via phone, mail, internet etc, but then I discovered this car sitting in Montreal. It wound up being a one-owner car, recently imported to Canada at the time. Rust-free, and original. It just needed a bunch of mechanical TLC, all of which was a good learning experience. I have owned it for about 10 years now, and I have put a little over 30,000 km on her. More smiles to the gallon than anything else I have ever owned.

Amazingly, it will cruise happily at 100-110 km/h, with only 602cc (about 30 hp).

Thanks for your interest.

Bob
