Hey Guys/Gals,
I just need some tips on debranding. I was thinking of removing "focus" from the trunk and place it somewhere else. I just need some tips on how to do it without damaging the paint.
I was planning on using dental floss to pop each letter off one by one but I wanted to ask the question before proceeding if there was a more efficient way on doing this.
Thanks!
MarcuS
Hair dryer or heat gun works awesome then just bug and tar remover to clean ne left over residue
same as above but use gasoline or goo gone instead of bug/tar remover.
Heat and fishing line....... dental floss breaks
then goo gone to clean up the left over adhesive
Goo gone ain't so good for ur clear coat... Turtle wax bug and tar remover is top coat safe and leaves a good shine after!
I used a heat gun and my fingers to remove the letters... but I didn't care if they were destroyed.
To remove the residue, I used Pinesol, which I had read about somewhere. It worked pretty good.
I went the same route at sl8r fishing line and goo gone.
I used heat gun, fingers, and bug/tar for both my vehicles... However I wasn't keeping either and found lots of crap got left on the trunk.
When I did the Durango I used a hair dryer and a plastic putty knife to peel the letters off. Then bug & tar remover but I don't remember what brand. TBH I think there were traces of the outline of some of the letters on the car that I couldn't wipe out but they faded/disappeared fairly quickly and using a putty knife was alright.
Heat, fishing line, Turtle Wax bug and tar remover. Done.
I was all over the fishing line, and gasoline (after various failed attempts with other cleaners). Came off like a charm.
I did this on Saturday. Just used my fingers to pry them off, was easy work i would say. Looks nice and clean now
mine peeled off like a sticker when i debadged mine. infact my focus badge was still fully intact and re-usable its stuck to a wall right now.
