Full Version: Canadian Ford Challenge July 13th & 14th (ST. Thomas Drag Way)

Just wanted to give the Focus Crowd a Heads up on The Race going on @ St Thomas this weekend coming up. Ford cars only & Engines must be a ford power plant. It will be on a Pro .500 Tree which is exciting to race on. Friday all day is Test and Tune, Sat will be the race day with qualifying in the morning and eliminations around noon. Camping Friday night is free.

We created a FWD Bracket class that most Focus,contour and Fiesta owners would be able to run. Here is the info

Canadian Ford Challenge
Front Wheel Drive Ford (Bracket class)
Rules & Regulations

- Qualifying is based on The best reaction time. ( #1 qualifier) You will then be put on a Sportsman ladder for eliminations.
- FWD Ford is a bracket class created for Street cars with Radial tires. To compete with a full race Rear wheel Drive bracket car with a Fwd street car is tough. FWD Ford pairs racers with similar set up opponents. FWD Ford uses a 5/10ths Pro Tree” start system. Any Front wheel drive Ford vehicle is permitted. Any modifications, any vehicle weight, or power adders are permitted. Trans-brakes and 2-steps are permitted. Delay boxes, Throttle-stop, crossover boxes, or any “reaction-time related” electronic aids strictly prohibited. No restriction on tires.
- The fastest qualifying ET permitted in FWD Ford class is 10.50. Any qualifying pass faster than 10.50 will be disqualified and will not count. Competitor will be permitted to requalify (if additional qualifying rounds are left) slower than 10.50.


NHRA Safety rules apply. FWD Ford will be ran on a Pro .500 Tree

Bracket Classes


Canadian Ford Challenge
Ford Comp 1 (10.49 & Slower Bracket)

Rules & Regulations

- Qualifying is based on The best reaction time. ( #1 qualifier) You will then be put on a Sportsman ladder for eliminations.
- Ford Comp 1 is based from OSCA open Comp format, which uses a ” 5/10ths Pro Tree” start system. Any Ford “door slammer-type” vehicle is permitted. Ford Comp 2 (10.49 & Faster Bracket)

Canadian Ford Challenge
Street Ford (Radial Tire Bracket class)

Rules & Regulations

- Qualifying is based on The best reaction time. ( #1 qualifier) You will then be put on a Sportsman ladder for eliminations.
- Street Ford is a bracket class created for Street cars with Radial tires. To compete with a full race bracket car with a normal radial street car is tough. Street Ford pairs racers with similar set up opponents. Street Ford uses a 5/10ths Pro Tree” start system. Any Ford vehicle is permitted. Any modifications, any vehicle weight, or power adders are permitted. Trans-brakes and 2-steps are permitted. Delay boxes, Throttle-stop, crossover boxes, or any “reaction-time related” electronic aids strictly prohibited.
Tire Rule
-Any Mickey Thompson, Hoosier or M & H Drag radial strictly prohibited. Any Normal Radial or Drag related radial other then- MT, Hoosier & M&H Permitted.
- The fastest qualifying ET permitted in the Street Ford class is 10.50. Any qualifying pass faster than 10.50 will be disqualified and will not count. Competitor will be permitted to requalify (if additional qualifying rounds are left) slower than 10.50.

All Motor Street Rules



Body & Chassis
-Ford’s Only
-Lexan/Plexiglass Window replacements prohibited
-Head lights & Tail lights required to be functional
-Full interior required (Must have upholstered door panels, dash, carpet 2 front seats, rear seats may be removed but covered rear seat delete style)
-Stock style suspension required front & rear (Bolt in replacement components and traction devices allowed.
-Ladder bars / 4-links prohibited (must retain unmodified rear frame)
-Stock fire wall and location required
-No wheelie bars
-Aftermarket functioning hood scoops prohibited for carburetor applications unless oem equipped
-Ram air induction may only be from behind oem bumper / Grille (No inlet holes or scoops on the outside of the body)
-There will be min race weight of 2900 lbs
-Front Bumper must retain factory lower grille opening (Filled lower valence prohibited)


Engine
-Motor must be Ford powered (281, 289, 302, 351, 4.6 Modular, 5.4 Modular, 5.0 Modular based engine plants)
-Aftermarket push rod based engine block’s permitted (Dart, Ford Racing etc)
-Stroker kit’s permitted
-Naturally Aspirated Only (Power adders strictly prohibited)
-No restriction on internals
-Both EFI & Carburetor Combo’s permitted

Drivetrain
-Standard Tremec based Transmissions permitted (Clutch less Transmission prohibited)
-Any Automatic Transmission permitted (Electronic or Manually shifted)

Fuel
-Any gasoline based fuel permitted

Exhaust
-Full length Headers permitted (cats do not have to be present)
-Mufflers required
-Exhaust must exit within 12 inches of rear diff (dumps under car permitted)

Tires / Wheels
-Any Oem/ aftermarket wheels permitted
-Any D.o.t street Tire, Aftermarket Slick, Drag Radial and Front skinnies permitted

Street Legal requirements
-Car must be plated & Insured (With up to date sticker)
All Motor Street is a heads up class created for Canadian ford challenge. Even though Race parts are permitted the way to regulate a car that is Driven on the road is to have it registered & Insured. This will be the most effective way to keep the class from getting out of control.

It's supposed to rain sat. But if it changes I may race mine. Guess we'll see...
