Hey guys, finally posting a build thread. Some of you know me from the constant PM's being sent back in forth, Instagram, Facebook here and there. And i would just like to say thank you to all of you who have helped, and are still helping! I wont name drop, but you guys know who you are!

I bought my Focus in March 2012. Lurked on here for 2 years now, and i am finally getting some progress on my car.

The plan is for the car to be a street/track car, as fast as possible on the stock engine with major suspension upgrades. Battery relocated, lsd, final drive, whole 9 yards.

The car is a 2003 Focus ZX3 Zetec Mtx-75 I picked up for $1400. It was a real steal. Manual doors, mirrors, no ABS or TC. Its a US car so it is a great foundation for a clean build. Must have been from somewhere without snow. No rust!
( I apologize for the old blackberry pics and Iphone pics in advance Rolleyes)

When i bought it it had H&R Race springs, Gaz adjustable shocks, AEM Short ram, and an HKS Hi-power exhaust

[Image: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-00000000035A_zpswlzm7ceq.jpg]

After a thorough cleaning it started to look a lot better.

The cars headlights were shot, so i grabbed a clean set of chrome ones, and "cracked and blacked" them.
[Image: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000386_zpsuenu2zbx.jpg]

I them found a Focussport race 4-1 header for a steal locally, and had to have it!
[Image: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000397_zps7f0t7vp3.jpg]

And then painted the valve cover wrinkle black.

I drove the car around for all of 2012, raced it alot, did a crap load of burnouts ( first car Big Grin)

Best ET was 16.3 89mph. Wasnt launching the car just walking it out of the hole, didn't want to break anything lol

[Image: 392553_10152755158720635_195368743_n_zps6f233f32.jpg]

I then started to have issues with crank sensors. Don't know if its the main bearing, or the clutch is loose, haven't checked it yet. Went through 3 in 6 weeks.
[Image: 303794_10152324240595635_1201942476_n_zps44f31aad.jpg]

Well winter of 2012 came, and i was strapped for cash. I didnt have the money for winter tires, or to buy another car, so i took the plunge and drove it. Worst idea ever. Long story short, i went no where. Spun everywhere, hit a couple of curbs, wasn't too fun.
[Image: 528328_10152755158365635_1392625365_n_zps9cfec1ce.jpg]

I got to about February of 2013 and the diff blew. Had to be a mixture of burnouts and spinning a lot on the snow. Threw it on blocks and parked it.

As the year started to progress i said i would just yank the motor and tranny, and paint the car. Started stripping the car down all myself in the driveway. Took off as much as possible to ensure it was going to be painted correctly. I was always taught do it right or dont do it at all. Anyways long story short again, i got screwed by one painter. He did one of the, next week next week things for about 4 months. Didnt send the car to paint until September 2013.

As said the plan for this car is to be a street/track car. So i grabbed a set of Moroso remote terminals, and mounted them. It will be finished with a carbon plate after paint.

Finally sent the car to the painter. It will have color matched body moldings, mirror caps, hatch trim, and door handles.

This is how the front tow hook will be mounted. Have to fabricate a bracket and mount it to the bumper beam.

Since the battery is going in the back, i figured i would wire in a kill switch. It will be in the drivers left vent. I mounted a piece of steel to the vent with some jb weld. It needs more work to be cleaner, then painted in block. I will be making another for the wideband gauge also.

That pretty much brings us up to all of the painters pictures. The car was full of dents, absolutely no rust, but alot of dents. They were all pulled and smoothed out. Color is Sonic Blue! It should be done in the next month or so, then reassembly!

That brings us up until today. I want to get this car as fast as possible with little engine work as possible first. To get a feel for the car, suspension, transmission, and improve from there. Once i have a firm grasp on the circuit i will do a bolt on NA build, or a turbo build.

Axles? Didn't even know there were axles available for the focus. With that said tho, what is the benefit aside from strength? I haven't had any issues on stock axles and slicks nor have most so it may be something you can save on depending on the goal with them.

Looks like this will be a fun go kart hatch when your done. Can't wait to see it tearing it up

Axles, cv joints, same thing loool. And mine were in need for a rebuild, and apparently most aftermarket fail so the conpany empi is the best. Same strength as stock just a good quality aftermarket
Ahh gotcha. Couldn't source ford oem units for a decent price? I'm big on oem parts now a days unless made by same third party manufacturer
Looking good.
Love the blue

If you wanting the most from every mod then look for a SVT header , you will see 4-7HP gain over the header you have and that intake is hurting you as well

What all did you do to the engine

Glad to see you got a wide band air fuel gauge , let me know if I can help with the custom tuning

I have an SVT header, cat and flex I might be persuaded to part with.
Just hollow out the svt cat if you have no interest in being green friendly. It will still pass emissions
I will be sticking with the focussport 4-1. It will be right for what im doing with the car. Ztw that jrsc you have is tempting tho lol
Im confused , I thought you were wanting more/most HP and TQ you could get , sorry !

The PCV adaptor you bought works good but the stock one works best if you dont have to remove it for any reason I would stick with the stock one , the one you bought will push out oil some

Without this getting too in depth or into an argument, can you please post a back to back dyno between a focussport 4-1 vs svt header?
If I wanted to go back through many years of dynoing yes I could , the fs made less HP, I wasnt pulling the gains out of my head , Just in case you dont know I own a dynojet dyno and nothing I wanted more then for the SVT to make more HP then any other header on the market esp the fs header and the SVT did just that

Just looking at the fs header will tell you its going to make more on a modded engine , yes the fs is better then stock header but it isnt the best for making the most HP / TQ

Just bolting the SVT on over your fs and you will feel the gains its that much better and the SVT loves 3 inch Exh it breaths/ scavenges that much better

Tom
He is very true. Many members have said SVT all the way if N/A or Supercharger
Either that or a kamikaze header which I doubt anyone will find now a days. Top speed was working on a header for pwsc application but like everything they never really did anything with it aside from sell the one they made
I didn't see an upgraded svt fuel Pump on your list...cough cough. I've got one kicking around if you're interested.
He shouldnt need a new pump for his mods list , the stock ZX3 fuel pump will do 230-250HP to the wheels

Tom
sounds like quite the build you have going on.. looking forward to seeing the final piece
anymore progress on this?
Updates! Got some pics from the painter, and its pretty much done. So stoked! Going tomorrow to get pictures outside of the booth in the shop. Should be home in about 2 weeks!

Massive ported SVT head shaved 0.80 about 12:1 compression w/ 94 octane

Cat Cams w/adjustable cam gears

VCT Delete

SVT lower intake w/Jfab/Nerp upper

65/67mm tb w 3" custom cold air

My focussport 4-1 header(no i will not be getting a svt header)

Picked up a svt head as a core locally

Svt intake
[Image: 924FB356-A932-45AD-A803-0FE876B3CF09_zpsw5bpt1sn.jpg]

[Image: BB1EB113-1F6F-4A26-8ED5-D6598F5A4087_zpsx4hpc3zd.jpg]

Thats it for now, have to bring the car home, tarp up the carport, and start working. First order of business is the harch wiring, then interior reassembly.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Svt intake

This is quite the project - looking forward to seeing it come together. What's the story with the SVT intake - does it keep the dual-runners and the IMRC intact? I assume if so, it's a vacuum operated IMRC and not the electronic one??
