Wow , I think I can finally believe it after reading that article . If it's true I wonder what the price tag would be compared to the ST's

I remember when it became clear we were getting the ST, but before the official announcement, we speculated here about pricing - and some of us guessed even up to high 30s.

My bet is the RS will be about $12k more than the ST.
better start saving my penni.. erm nickels. the problem with it, like everything Ford puts out is the price. if ZTW is correct, thats WRX money.... and for an AWD car, why wouldnt you buy with that?
well if ford makes a car to compete with the WRX then we shouldn't complain that it costs about the same.

According to the article the RS will be AWD and they're guessing close to 350 horsepowers - so yeah, WRX money seems to make sense.
Yup, $40K and up for sure!
It would be nice to have an AWD Fofo. I hope it's all it's supose to be!
Time will tell...in the meantime, I'll enjoy my two ST's Wink

im not complaining about the cost if its comparable to other AWD platforms, im just saying, for the price why would you not go with a proven awd drive train. if the RS was even 35000, then for sure i would give it a shot. but [potentially] 42000 its a big chance to take.

hopefully it will be an amazing car and be worth the price, i definitely believe Ford can do that, only time will tell.
I thought the ST competes with the WRX and the RS will compete with the STi and EVO (if it still existed)???

You re correct RS with 350 horses will compete with a STI and most likely kill them. The evo is already in it's last year of production. It will most likely be priced on par with the standard Mustang GT. It will be pricey but like it said in the article it's a niche market an most likely a limited production.
I still don't think the AWD is going to happen and if it does, it won't land in North America. The additional costs to build a US focus rs would be big, either for shipping costs across the pond or retooling at michigan for a limited number run... Seems legit right?

As far as pricing goes I can see it starting around 40k. That puts it on par for price with a golf R which is the only other AWD hot hatch, however 70hp or so less. Just like gti vs ST I can see them setting sights on vw for pricing comparison. They will of course toss it up against the evo and sti and we all know it will show them what's good. I hate rumours because we have heard rumours about every focus rs and even the ST.
