my 2001 ford focus DOHC, it all started when I pulled out of my parking stall, my fuel was low with the fuel lite on. stopped and got out of car to get some thing and car stalled, so I tried to start car and would not run, so went to get Gerry can of gas, car will start but not stay running, got no engine lite come on but car will run if you keep your foot on gas pedal. got my scan reader and no codes come up. got under the car and seen the medal tubing going up to the EGR valve that the nut was loose and slide down tube, tighten nut and still will not run Angry
I posted an answer to your first post in the Welcome section ... but anyway, I'll paste it here too. Cheers and let us know how it goes.

"Welcome ... and when was the last time you had the fuel filter changed. If left too long they will restrict the flow of gas to the point where the car doesn't run right, and sometimes not at all. Letting the fuel tank run low often tends to accelerate the problem."

will pick up a fuel filter today and give it a try.
i had the same problem too but it wasnt my fuel filter, then ford quoted me about a grand and was not able to guarentee that to fix it, are they nutz who says pay 1G and it might or might not fix it,
If it will stay running- and running well with a bit on the gas pedal than it could be a couple things, either fuel pump overheated and damaged when it ran low- it uses the gas flow and being submerged to cool it, and won't put out the flow at idle, or coincidentally the IAC got jarred shut and now won't open and close correctly. I'd lean toward the pump. Obviously try filter first. But worst case a pump may be in order. Check kijiji Ontario for one listed there brand new, noticed it while browsing Smile
you can also take it to a mechanic if u dont want to do the work yourself
