Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to throw up a quick post to let you know that I'm starting final prep for moving the site to new board and content management software on a new hosting provider.
Please note that you may see some changes to this site (ie, forums being reduced/combined) leading up to the launch of the new site.
Please feel free to post any issues that may crop up in the meantime. If all goes well, we'll be pulling the switch on the new focuscanada.net in early April!

the new board implements yet another captcha device, but I doubt it'll eliminate ALL spambots. But it does support plugins that I can use to look up known spammers in a database, and a new spam button that allows members to quickly and conveniently notify the board of spammers.
And there are other features including integrated user ratings (not sure how that's going to pan out with this group)..
There's also expanded user profiles, a slightly revised calendaring system for events, and a few other features I hope prove useful.
Of course there's going to be some growing pains -- I'm able to migrate everyone's user accounts and posts to the new board, but there will be some glitches in them... hopefully it won't prove too intrusive.
will we have "garages"?
That would be pretty cool we need some type of gallery.

I'm working on it... The problem is integrating the user accounts between the CMS system and the forum software.
While the CSM software supports forums, the forums aren't as fully featured as dedicated forum software... going to get the basics up first and work on introducing features as we go along. which means forums first, then the rest...

it's got a squatter sitting on it asking $1700 for the domain name..
And I don't make enough to file a grievance or pay the ransom.
how about an area to upload user pics instead of hot-linking them from your C:/ drive like some noobs tend to do?

I have fc-web.ca registered where I'll host the 'beta' site before moving focuscanada.net over.
focuscanada.ca used to be owned by FoMoCoOfCa at one point... interesting.

Are we going away from the black and red? It always stands out at work, maybe user selectable forum colours. You know so I can switch it up and not get busted for not working. [crosses fingers] :P

haha..yes... there'll be xbox skype, etc...
and we will be going away from the black and red colour scheme -- though, plans for selectable skins are a little ways away yet.
