Transport Canada announces latest recalls
February 24, 2010

Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Ford, Honda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Lexus, Pontiac, Saab and Chrysler vehicles, and some Dorel infant seats.

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby
Vehicles affected: 5

On certain vehicles, the label on the driver’s side B-pillar may have incorrect rear tire size information. Dealers will replace the labels on affected vehicles.

2008 Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat Base
2008 Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant Seat
Units affected: 6,930

Certain infant seats may not lock properly into position when the seat is installed onto the removable base. The seat will latch into the base, but may not fully lock, and could separate from the base in the event of a collision. Dorel will notify customers and provide a repair kit with a tool to be used to change the springs.

2007-2008 Honda Fit
Vehicles affected: 34,881

On certain vehicles, under severe conditions, water may enter the driver’s window and reach the master power window switch. If it is damaged due to water intrusion, it may result in switch failure and overheating, which could cause smoke, melting and fire. Dealers will install an external cover to prevent water from entering the switch, and replace any damaged switches.

2010 BMW 5 Series
2009-2010 BMW 7 Series
Vehicles affected: 119

Certain vehicles are equipped with a tire information label that does not conform to the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. The label indicates a seating capacity of five passengers on a vehicle that only has a four-passenger capacity. However, the tire size, pressure and vehicle capacity weight information on the label is correct. New labels will be provided or applied.

2003 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Vehicles affected: 250

On certain vehicles, corrosion within the exhaust channel of the intake manifold may occur and lead to leakage of exhaust gas. This could result in possible damage to the fuel return line and heat damage to the insulation at the front wall. Under specific circumstances, there is a possibility of fire. Dealers will replace the intake on affected vehicles.

2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe (this is also the same as the Toyota Matrix recall)
Vehicles affected: 28,466

On certain vehicles, the accelerator pedal may become stuck in the wide-open position, due to an unsecured or incompatible driver’s floor mat. Owners will be notified to take out any unsecured driver’s floor mat until further notice by the manufacturer.

2010 Lexus HS 250h
2010 Toyota Prius
Vehicles affected: 3,600

On certain vehicles, an inconsistent brake feel may be perceived after ABS actuation during slow and steady application of the brakes on rough or slick road surfaces. Stopping distances may be increased compared to expectation for the given pedal force. Dealers will rewrite the programming of the ABS control unit.

2010 Toyota Camry
Vehicles affected: 400

On certain vehicles, there is a possibility that clearance between the clamp on the power steering pressure hose and the brake tube for the left rear brake is insufficient. If the vehicle is continuously operated in this condition, the hose clamp may wear a hole in the brake tube, resulting in brake fluid leakage and increased stopping distance. Dealers will inspect and replace the brake tube on affected vehicles.

2004 Saab 9-3 Sedan
Vehicles affected: 665

On certain vehicles, over time, the seat belt retractors could have the automatic tensioning system cable break. If the cable breaks, the webbing spooled out by the user will not retract. Dealers will replace the affected units.

2008 Chrysler Town & Country Van-Action TX+ Model
2008 Dodge Caravan Van-Action TX+ Model
Vehicles affected: 24

On certain vehicles, the rear axle track bar support may crack with time and fatigue. If the support is not fixed or replaced, one side of the track bar could fall, and the rear tires may rub against the body. Dealers will repair the affected vehicles.

2001-2002 Acura 1.7 EL
2002 Acura TL
2003 Acura TL Sedan
2001-2002 Honda Accord L4 Coupe
2001-2002 Honda Accord L4 Sedan
2001-2002 Honda V6 Coupe
2001-2002 Honda V6 Sedan
2001-2002 Honda Civic Coupe
2001 Honda Civic Sedan
2002 Honda CR-V
2002 Honda Odyssey
Vehicles affected: 41,685

On certain vehicles, the driver’s airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure. If it deploys, the increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, with metal fragments passing through the airbag cushion material and possibly causing occupant injuries. Dealers will replace the airbag inflator.

2010 Toyota Tacoma
Vehicles affected: 1,500

On certain four-wheel drive vehicles, the joint portion of the driveshaft may include a component that developed cracks during the manufacturing process. These cracks may eventually lead to separation of the driveshaft, resulting in the shaft hitting the road. Dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace the front driveshaft if necessary.

My friends parents have one and the dealership they go to told them unlike the brakes on the Matrix they will stop the car, where the brakes on the Vibe will not lol.
