I hate having drumbs on anything I drive. Had to replace mine 3 times in the course of 85 000 KM. Anyone know where I can get a good deal or just get a conversion kit to disk on the rear without have to run 17" rims all year round?

Depends on what you view as a good deal. You can get the factory Ford SVT rear disc conversion for about $800.00 from Central Florida Motorsports. It's a very nice kit with very clear instructions.

Whatever you do, *don't* get the SSBC rear disc conversion. I did. Biggest mistake ever: poorly engineered, noisy, park brake seized 3 times last winter, etc. etc.
ford racing sells the rear disc conversion kit now separately, check it out.

good to know, didnt want to buy the entire kit and only use the rears
Not telling you what to do or change the subject, but what about upgrading the front? Most of the stopping power comes from the front anyways. Looking at the price of the front and rear and how close they are.

If you have an 05-07 there's really no point in upgrading to SVT - there's hardly any difference in rotor size - the difference between the stopping power and feel of my wife's '04 ZTW and my '07 is very noticeable - I like my brakes and don't like hers. I have no interest in changing my front brakes.

On the other hand, for those with 00-04 there's the front rotor replacement kit to upgrade to the 05-07 non-SVT setup ... for $180 bucks less than the SVT fronts - if it were me, that's the way I'd go.

EDIT: BTW - for those of us with 05-07 models, upgrading to SVT front brakes does not require new spindles ... it's all bolt on - rotors, calipers and pads ... and of course you'll need 17" wheels.
Just went to Dixie Ford and spoke to Mike. They want $1100 for the full kit and he says they to not supply just the rear. So still thinking lol.

Forget that ... but the SVT rear only is available in the US for just 430 and with the way the dollar is these days that's basically 430 to us.
CFM has the conversion for 524.00 and you can use 16" rims

Its not a hard conversion but it is labor intensive... Also if you dont have a good impact wrench ( At Min 500 ft lbs) dont even bother doing it yourself.. Its not hard there are step by step how to's... But if you get them install by ford or a mechanic its gonna run the bill up pretty fast

If your not looking at spending 530 plus shipping and duty.. you can scavange the junk yard for either an SVT or an ST with rear disc and do a lil surgery there.. Maybe you'll come out cheap..

Either way for rear disc you have to put 650 -700 aside when you consider shipping duty and so on spare parts you may need and so on and so on.. I've been wanting to do it for a while but i dont have the cash with school so i deal with my drums..
Find a wrecked ST. They have rear disks.
Ford Racing also sells a svt kit that will fit over 15" wheels check the 2007 ford racing performance catalog

Ya thats the one I have at home.
ZTWsquared(Ken) and I have set something up when we need brakes we're going to order the rear SVT Kit from the same company and save the duties by Ken working his magic.

Good idea but easier said than done ... especially now that focussalvage.com no longer exists.
