The blonde young lady here at my work owns a 2007 Sport Trac, with the V-8. Yesterday, the CEL came on, and the light that "looks like a wrench". She took it in to Ford, today, and both lights were out, and no codes were stored. What the heck is the wrench? A needs service code?
Should be the engine light . Codes should have been stored though.
The wrench light is a service interval light. Have her check her manual to make sure. As for a CEL, well... it couldn't have been too bad if it didn't store a code.
whats a CEL light
The CEL refers to the "Check Engine Light" which indicates abnormal operation of the engine or related emissions components.

However the wrench refers to an issue with the transmission/driveline components (at least it does on my Fusion)

Either way, the fact that the car stored no codes and the lights went away by themselves means that mostly likely things are fine, but tell her to keep an eye on it.

could it be the gas cap was loose and the fixed it and the light went out??
