Hey Guys,

A few guys out here have been in touch with Tom from FF about getting a Focus Fest Canada started. He fully supports the idea, and is going to help us. The question is: Would you come? Tentitive Dates are July 19-20. I'm trying to plan for an autocross, a show and shine with awards, and barbeque, a cruise and maybe even a swap meet. It would be located here in Winnipeg, the most central place, plus we can get owners from neighboring states as well. I want to know if you would attend, and if theres anything in particular you'd like to see.

Thanks,

Ash
If we did one in Ontario i would go..
If it could happen at the Calabogie Motorsports track, I'd be there in a heart beat :)

I don't know.... I'm already planning on going to Arkansas for FocusFest2008, because i already have the first 2 weeks of July off and would only have to take 1 week off in June to make it down there
Depending on my work schedual but If I got some time off i'd maybe do it. As people suggested if it was in ontario you'd probably have a better turnout.

Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming. As far as an Ontario location goes, that wouldn't be in the cards this year. We're looking at attaining local ford dealer sponsors, as well as other organizations like the Winnipeg Sports Car Club and Winnipeg Autocross. C'Mon guys, roadtrip!!!
If I come, it won't be in the FoFo :D

I won't rule it out. I'll keep the dates in mind for sure. It's close to the annual Algonquin trip, so who knows how many can attend both (considering the massively different distances).

I am also seriously looking at driving down to Akransas; looking for the long-distance award!

Yes but ashhabib is looking to get a National meet together not a Provincial meet, and wants to give everyone who is interested enough advanced notice so as many people can make it as possible

I think there should be a poll set up to gauge exactly how many people would be willing to make the drive to a National meet.
Well I guess thats the good thing about planning a meet now, it will give you some time to plan. I would be up for a road trip,....how about Vancouver??? :D

aaaand i still think he'd get more people around here.......like 65% on FC.net are from GTA and small towns around it

by the way we should get those guys from French side(quebec) to come out and play B) ......i know they think they got their own country out there but they should come out once in a while
LOL, thanks for the input guys. Yes, I am trying to get this on a National/International level. I just happen to be located in the center of the continent. :P C'Mon, I heard lots of talk in the months past about peoples willingness to come out for giant meets. Let see! :D
Yaa just Google Mapped it Good luck approx 22 hours from the GTA I rather go to the real focus fest and there should be drag racing y don't we set up a poll we can have it in a few location in GTA Cayuga, St thomas or even shannonvile any other ideas i say have it it Ontario even if its north is there a track near ottawa
and another idea if we had it here in toronto we can join with a raceing series or something last year we had Dodge Neon Meet at grand bend alot of the guys from the states came up that might be a good idea or even joing with the dasilva racing track events its always a huge event and we can have are own focus bracket class if you guys are interested no offence but i think it will be a waste to have only focus maybe joing with a cougar club or something because no matter what you won'y have a huge turn out

That's the problem with planning a "national" meet-everyone wants to go but aren't willing to make any extra effort to go. "Why not have it in by back yard?" As you know, Toronto is the center of the universe. I would road trip to Wiinipeg if I don't end up going to Arkansas, which is looking more and more likely as I am turning it into a vacation to visit family in Louisiana.
Maybe try to tie in a Ford theme-Mustang, Contour, Escort and Focus. If you are going to do the hard work and arrange the meet have it where you want and arrange the local sponserships. Props to you ashhabib for making the effort to get this meet together.
I'll bring it up, when I get home. Might be a trip we'd make.
Not promising anything though.
