Transport Canada issues latest recalls
03-05-2007

Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some BMW and Ford vehicles.

2007 BMW 6 Series
Vehicles affected: 3

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat occupant detection system may misinterpret a properly-seated small adult as a child seat and deactivate the front passenger airbag. The deactivation would be indicated by the "Passenger Airbag Off" lamp being lit. Dealers will replace the front passenger seat occupant detection system.

2007 Ford Explorer
Vehicles affected: 3

On certain vehicles, the steering gear attaching bolts may have been over-torqued during vehicle assembly, potentially weakening the bolts. If a steering gear attaching bolt fractures, there may be an audible noise at low speed and the steering wheel alignment may be off centre. If both bolts were to break, the vehicle might not respond to steering inputs. Dealers will replace the steering gear to frame attaching hardware.
