It's a Duratec motor series... it'll definitely fit.

It would be nice if Ford sells the ST150 version of the Fiesta when it's due to come out in 2009 in Europe.

It was the festiva that was sold here in Canada

My mistake. I knew it was a hatch, just didn't pay too much attention to it. Too small for my needs

Ford of Canada first imported the Fiesta ... and then they had a second go at it and imported the Festiva

the festiva was never imported............they later renamed the festiva the aspire which was identical to the festiva in Australia.

Lets just hope the quality and quantity of the car is better than Ford's previous B-class attempts

Almost, but not quite:

Fiesta sold in NA for model years 1978 through 80
Festiva Gen. 1 sold in NA for model years 1988 through 93
Aspire (aka Festiva Gen. 2) sold in NA for model years 1994 through 97 and you are right this was based on the Kia Pride and was also sold in Australia right through the 2001 model year.

Being older does have it's advantages! I remember someones mother down the street had a yellow '78 Fiesta and in the late 80's a coworker had a Festiva (made in Korea I think) JUNK, and I still see Aspires hobbling around.
Didn't the Fiesta come out in Europe before the Rabbit, but people still thought Ford was copying VW. Back then VW had an even worse reputation than they do now.

Looks the same to me. Ford really needs something in the sub-compact market. Plus the Focus is too big for my trunk :(
