Transport Canada issues latest recalls
04-25-2007

Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Kia and Mazda vehicles.

2002 Kia Sportage
Vehicles affected: 4,064

On certain vehicles, heat generated by the engine causes repeated bending deformation of the polypropylene cooling fan and its retaining ring, which initiates cracking of the blades. The rotation can eventually cause separation of the blades. Dealers will replace the engine cooling fan blade assembly.

2001-2004 Mazda Tribute
Vehicles affected: 7,760

On certain vehicles, the electrical wiring connector to the ABS module may have been manufactured incorrectly. Over time, contaminants can enter the connector interface and corrode the terminals, which could cause the ABS warning indicator to illuminate, or cause an open fuse and in some instances, smoking, melting or burning, possibly resulting in a vehicle fire. ABS function may also be lost. Dealers will inspect and, if required, repair the wiring connector.
