BBC considers U.S.-specific "Top Gear"
The U.K.'s BBC is considering producing a version of its popular "Top Gear" program for the United States, according to the Sun newspaper. The show will star the same cast as the British version ââ¬â Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
The report was not clear as to whether some of the same segments would be used in both editions of the show, but the U.S. version is expected to have an increased focus on American vehicles.
"BBC Worldwide has had exploratory conversations with the US networks to bring a local version of Top Gear to the US, but there is not yet a deal on the table," a BBC spokeswoman said.
U.S. stars will reportedly race against The Stig on Top Gear's track, the newspaper added.

I've seen what happens when they test american cars...
Nevermind what happens when they roadtrip in them!
It would be interesting to hear what they have to say about NA vehicles. The BBC had better find some non-automotive manufacturer sponsors. Would you want to be the guy paying money to hear your product slagged in public?
Oh boy, I could just see how they would tear some of the more "sedate" NA products new entry & exit holes
Imagine their take on say, a Buick Lucerne?

What happens if one gets given to you? My mother-in-law bought one..... don't say anything, please, and she is probably, and hopefully going to be told she can't drive anymore. So, she will probably give her Century to her favourrite son-in-law. Me.

Congrats... I think?
Seriously though a Buick Century is a nice sedate car... not spectacular in terms of anything that it does... but at least the insurance rates on it are low enough that you can run it cheaply...

I've driven it a few times, had trouble staying awake. Got a speeding ticket in it too. Haven't had one in the Focus, yet

If you had a Century, it would make your online name appropriate. :D
My wife's grandparents have a 2004 Century. My '98 Merc Sable is a sports sedan comparatively... :)
Ok, back to topic... Why don't they just bring the UK show here? Oh, wait, they'll make the North American public want
good cars, and not appliances.

I had a Regal, always seemed to slouch over while driving. I would drive in the slow lane, because I wasn't sure when the thing was going to fall apart. If I was given the Century, It wouldn't get much use, only when I had to take the wife somewhere. Mind you, she was the one who said to get the Focus. A show in AMerica about European cars, wouldn't go over too well. Most Americans either wouldn't understand, or care, 'cause it ain't American. Of course, that comment is not directed at our American members......
Funny thing is though if they do get the green light on doing the show here in North America, it would be interesting to see them do European Models vrs their American counterpart under the same brand names like the European Corolla vrs American Corolla, or the Global Focus vrs the American, or better yet the European Civic vrs it's American version.
They could do that now. It would be "safer" to do now, and give the Europeans an ego boost.

Clarkson & Co.'s take on the N.American Focus versus the Global Focus?
You must enjoy watching massacres

Perhaps the North American public would revolt and demand that they be given the same vehicles as the rest of the world. <_<
Only if it'll make them look pimp at Starbucks. Otherwise... no.
The American populace at large (Torradan excluded)=FAIL.

The Aura is basically an opel with a saturn badge ......so they would probably like it.

doubt that because if you think about it the European version of the Aura would have a 5 or 6 speed as standard and optional Automatic, not to mention a different choice in motors available.
