Transport Canada issues latest recalls

Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Volkswagen, Jaguar and Mazda vehicles.

2006 Volkswagen Passat
Vehicles affected: 2,500

On certain vehicles, the wiper motor may fail in heavy rain due to moisture intrusion. Dealers will install a special cover and sealing kit.

2006-2007 Volkswagen Passat
Vehicles affected: 3,400

On certain vehicles, a vacuum line may fracture and disconnect at low ambient temperatures. If this happens, brake power assist could become inoperative, leading to increased effort to apply the brakes. Dealers will install a redesigned vacuum line.

2007 Jaguar S-Type
Vehicles affected: 7

Certain vehicles were inadvertently released after being assembled with prototype fuel tanks produced for test purposes only. The tanks were manufactured with processes that vary significantly from regular production, and their durability has not been validated and is unknown. Dealers will replace the fuel tanks.

2006 Mazda5
Vehicles affected: 1,683

On certain vehicles, water can accumulate within the manual door latch mechanism and freeze, interfering with proper door latch operation. Dealers will replace the right and left sliding door latch modules with updated versions.
