Transport Canada issues latest recalls
November 3, 2006

Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Volvo, Infiniti, Kia, General Motors, BMW, Nissan, Ford and Audi vehicles, and Cooper tires.

2006 Volvo C70
Vehicles affected: 60

Certain vehicles were installed with incorrect tire and loading information labels. The labels indicate that three backseat occupants are allowed, while the vehicle is only designed for two. Owners will be provided with labels and installation instructions.

2006-2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe
Vehicles affected: 1,400

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108 - Headlamp Vertical Gradient. Dealers will install updated headlamp assemblies.

2004-2006 Infiniti Q45
Vehicles affected: 40

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108 pertaining to stop lamps and reflex reflectors. Dealers will install updated rear combination lamp assemblies.

2006 Kia Sedona
Vehicles affected: 757

On certain vehicles equipped with adjustable brake pedals, the stop lamp switch wiring harness may be out of position. An improperly positioned harness could make contact with the U-joint assembly of the steering column, which could eventually cause the wiring harness insulation to chafe. An electrical short could result in the loss of brake lights, engine stalling, or an inability to start the vehicle. Dealers will reposition the wiring harness.

2007 Chevrolet Aveo
2007 Pontiac Wave

Vehicles affected: 4,516

Certain vehicles equipped with a 1.6-litre engine may develop a fuel leak as a result of fuel line rupture in a frontal crash test. The crash damage also caused four short circuits in the fuse block; the combination allowed the fuel pump to continue running and pump fuel onto the ground. Dealers will replace the fuse block and install a redesigned section of fuel line.

2006 BMW 3 Series
Vehicles affected: 2

On certain vehicles, the bolted connection between the front control arm and swivel bearing may not have received adequate tightening torque during vehicle assembly. As a result, this bolted connection could loosen and/or break, affecting vehicle stability and control. Dealers will verify the bolted connection torque.

2007 Nissan Maxima
Vehicles affected: 134

On certain vehicles, the steering wheel lock may engage with the ignition in the "off" position, even if the transmission is out of the "Park" position. Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the steering wheel lock assembly.

2005-2006 Nissan Murano
Vehicles affected: 3,400

On certain vehicles, the steering wheel lock may engage with the ignition in the "off" position, even if the transmission is out of the "Park" position. Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the steering wheel lock assembly.

2005 Ford Five Hundred
2005-2006 Ford Freestyle

Vehicles affected: 13,652

On certain vehicles, the door latch mechanisms may experience water intrusion that, over time, may wash out grease applied during the manufacturing process. This may allow the latch mechanism to freeze during temperatures significantly below zero degrees Celsius, in combination with a wet environment. The door latch pawl may not return to the latched position when the door is closed, allowing the door to open while the vehicle is in motion. Dealers will install a shield over the front latches; seal a drain hole in the rear window trim molding on Freestyle rear side doors; and apply grease to all front and rear side door latch mechanisms.

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid FWD
Vehicles affected: 194

On certain vehicles, the intermediate shaft used in the front-wheel driveline may not have received adequate heat treat process during manufacturing, and may fracture while the vehicle is being driven. If a fracture occurs, the powertrain will lose the ability to transmit torque to the drive wheels, and the transmission will not hold the vehicle stationary when in Park. Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the intermediate shaft.

1996-1997 Audi A4
Vehicles affected: 2,767

On certain vehicles, the ignition switch return spring anchor point may crack. If this happens, the ignition key may not return to the running position after starting the engine, and electrical accessories such as windshield wipers and headlights will be inoperative. Dealers will install an updated ignition switch.
haha thats pretty funny out of all the car manufacturers Ford tops them all

2005 Ford Five Hundred
2005-2006 Ford Freestyle
Vehicles affected: 13,652
