Glad to see that i'm not the only anal retentive one on that. It's only used to indicate a possessive or a contraction, not a plural.
Quotation mark's are also a major pet peeve as well.

I'll call it my little protest against the over-use of the apostrophe.
another popular one is your, you're and there, their and they're.
hmm well most people naturally have bad gramer, and poor spelling habbits, we did at one point have a spell check on the reply windows, man I miss that.

Things that make me go "hmmmmmm" = people who post in threads about the misuse of the apostrophe ... and use the word "its" instead of "it's" ... glad to see you have since fixed it.
