so in your opinion, it wont matter if u have a 100 mbit lan card or a 10 mbit lan card, your isp still sends you 5-6 mbit, just downgrade to 10mbit then, if thats the case.

for internet browsing, yes... for a lot of my home development work, the extra bandwidth of 100mb is nice though... but I haven't worked with large enough files across the network to warrant upgrading to gigabit even though all the machines are capable...hell gigabit outpaces most home Harddrives.
If you have a SATA drive that transfers at 72 MB, it's still being outpaced by a factor of 2 with gigabit ethernet.
So you'd have to have smokin' fast machines to get full use of gigabit in the first place... which, in the real world, people don't really notice the difference between 100 and 1g ethernet unless you have an infrastructure requiring that kind of speed.
