can anyone conferm this
in an attempt to get out of paying over $100 for a new focus key
i belve you can remove the chip from any ford car or truck key go to Canadian tire get a key cut for your car and then put the chip in the newly cut key. the new chip can be reprogrammed using your old focus key.
that's what i am going to do. my buddy works at a ford dealer and tells me this will work.
so all i need it to find an older ford key with a chip. wrecking yard maby

Keep in mind that to program yourself you have to have TWO working keys. Keys are cheap, go look on ebay. $15 including shipping.

Chances of your removing the chip from the old key without damaging it are very low. It's a fairly delicate setup, and trying to pry it out from the plastic key head will be difficult to say the least.
