Or stupidity, there are many many legal issues to sort through before Balsillie even gets a sniff at buying the Coyotes, no matter what grandstanding he does.
The little matter of the $700M USD penalty clause for breaking the lease (The legal question there being whether it would survive the bankruptcy)
The little matter of the fact that even if he buys the team and the assets, that the league retains the right to pull the franchisees ability to operate in the NHL.
Too many legal roadblocks remain at this point...
