V6 Swap - logoris - 05-06-2009 ok so i have a 2003 se 2.0 wagon i was wondering if the ranger 3.0l v6 would be a drop in, or what would be a good one to drop in? V6 Swap - Scorcher000 - 05-06-2009 There is a bolt in kit that Ford Racing sells and it will allow a 4.6L or a 5.0L to fit snuglly inside. But I think it's only the frame and suspension they offer you have to provide a engine and all the other goodies. V6 Swap - logoris - 05-06-2009 ok thanks, do you have a link or a price? V6 Swap - Oscar The Grouch - 05-06-2009 WOAH!!!!! Where???? I want! I think you'd have to find a front wheel drive donor - eg: the Contour 2.5 or perhaps the Taurus or Fusion 3.0 ... This is just one - Kugel Komponents V6 Swap - logoris - 05-06-2009 thanks and do you know if would a stang transmission fit on the 2.0 zetec V6 Swap - ZTWsquared - 05-06-2009 logoris,May 5 2009, 07:25 PM Wrote:thanks Okay - to be clear - to make a swap to RWD the first thing that goes is the engine and transmission ... so the terms 2.0 and Zetec no longer apply - - with engine and tranny out it's a Focus shell ... and frankly it could have been an SPI to begin with and it would all be the same. So the answer is "no" you cannot use a transmission from a RWD vehicle on the Zetec engine which is engineered for FWD. You can, however, use certain Mustang transmissions when used in conjunction with a RWD application V8. If you checked out the link I gave you, they specify what engines and transmissions will work with their V8 kit ... ie: the T5 manual and the C4 automatic V6 Swap - logoris - 05-06-2009 ok that makes sense V6 Swap - dBlast - 05-06-2009 I remember seeing a show about a Lotus 7 kit (Caterham) using Zetecs in RWD configuration. There is some information in this links below that may help you: link to connecting zetec to rwd transmission another link to connecting zetec to rwd application zetec rwd conversion kit Another zetec rwd thread V6 Swap - logoris - 05-06-2009 dBlast,May 5 2009, 09:27 PM Wrote:I remember seeing a show about a Lotus 7 kit (Caterham) using Zetecs in RWD configuration.kool thanks V6 Swap - ZX3_2NV - 05-07-2009 Ford Racing no longer sells the Kugel Kit I beleive they got suied. But for a V6 Swap a SVT Contour Motor Would prob fit best. Why would you want a 3.0l Vulcan in it? About the same hp and torque as a Zetec, just way heavier. If you want to go V-6, go with a Duratec of some sort. 3.0, or a 2.5 would be your best bets. V6 Swap - Flofocus - 05-07-2009 why even swap? boost FTW. I was going to say, the SVT Contour motor would be good BUT theres a reason they swap them out for 3.0L Duratecs so you might as well try that- one buddy in Burlington swapped a 3.0L duratec in his SVT and dynod 215WHP, plus Nautilus makes turbokits for those motors and average member is putting out over 300WHP with that setup V6 Swap - logoris - 05-07-2009 Flofocus,May 6 2009, 02:08 PM Wrote:why even swap? boost FTW.i had found engines for cheaper then a turbo/supercharger V6 Swap - Oscar The Grouch - 05-07-2009 Flofocus,May 6 2009, 03:08 PM Wrote:why even swap? boost FTW. sometimes, boost isn't enough. The Merkur used the 2.3 Lima engine (can you spell Pinto) - so it's doubtful the manifold would match up to the Zetec - but maybe the turbo itself might be useful although it would have to be more than 20 years old now. |
