I'm dreaming of boosting my car someday soon... keep us posted on your progress!

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - GFXjamie - 05-06-2010

not bad dood. just watch that tranny and no power shifting!

should have bought that crazy exhaust nik has, the double pipe one. that thing sounds mint. have fun with install of turbo, i saw where they are in these cars and looks rather hard to get to

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - Flofocus - 05-06-2010

I've always had good results with Borla, I dont really change anything if it works Smile

I've booked a freind of mine who is a subaru specialist & has his own shop for 2 days, so we will have a hoist & all the right tools. Hopefully it goes smoothly, the tuner comes tomorrow night to download the base maps and he will need to start the car.

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - GFXjamie - 05-06-2010

what are you using for tuning? access port?

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - Flofocus - 05-06-2010

Not sure, I think its some OEM subaru software. Its being tuned by Tonik motorsport in Aylmer, QC, does a lot of work with the canadian rally teams.

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - NikiterZTS - 05-06-2010

im at the about the same level....same turbo, only front mount intercooler + external waste gate set up....other then that pretty much same mods with bushings and suspension.....

i'll be selling my sti top mount + sti hood splitter very soon

what injectors? 740?

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - bmxfu - 05-06-2010

Im requesting a ride when everything is put on and running smooth haha. Finally a nice setup for me to hear rip down Laurier instead of the same old V-techs and crotch rockets lol.

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - Dimitri - 05-07-2010

Good luck with the project, a friend of mine has an '03 and it's a fun ride.

'02-'03 have worst tranny evah

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - Flofocus - 05-07-2010

yeah 750s.

Didnt get everything done tonight but made decent progress. Gotta do some fine aligning of the exhaust tomorrow, re-install the intake, and tune.

Shitteh part is we wasted 4 hours trying to get that aps pipe to fit properly. Could not get it on properly at all. what a pita, ended up putting the stock unit back on. Sad

Here are some pics of the install

Stock exhaust removed...

sti ic vs wrx ic

wrx turbo beside the new one...

The turbo new turbo coolant line was rubbing against the transmission housing, loosening the uppipe and moving the turbo a little solved our problem. Other than that issue (and the aps pipe) the turbo was a perfect bolt on.

turbo in...

intake snorkel, replaces a huge milk jug lookin thing thats used for sound deadening.

The aps instructions were good. The product is really nicely made, but that coupler that goes between the pipe and turbo doesnt work with my turbo. We tried everything, wasted 4 hours on this. If we decided not to install this before, the intake manifold could have stayed on and the car would be tuned right now! ugh.

this is the coupler im talking about.

This is the pipe its replacing

downpipe on

Cutting the flange on the dp to make it flat, so it will fit to the borla properly.

stock heat shield even fits!

STI IC installed

more to come tomorrow.

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - NikiterZTS - 05-07-2010

good progress
must be nice to have somebody with a hoist and all the tools Smile

my turbo inlet was a pain in the ass to put in as well but we managed to do it without taking off the intake manifold.

Hey Nik - I'll take the splitter. PM me the deets.
Car is nuts BTW. Pulls very hard in every gear, even 5th gear is amazing to be in. Full boost by 3000rpm, comes on HARD. 20psi and the tuner said the turbo has 5-6psi more in it.

In love all over again. lol

once i recieve all my parts i should be taking it off (i send everything to the address in states and then someone picks it up for me).....a bit while still...

Is the car all tuned up now?

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - Flofocus - 05-11-2010

yes, all tuned up. I asked him to not go nuts on it, I didnt want big power, I wanted something fun and reliable. Its more than I expected, I am very happy.

he said once I get used to the new found power to come back to him and he'll fix it up again for me. He really likes this turbo, power everywhere. My mechanic wants to get the same turbo for his forrester now.

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - NikiterZTS - 05-11-2010

yeah i got that turbo for a good price + injectors + pump.....it has great review overall

what were the dyno numbers? or was it just a road tune?

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - Flofocus - 05-11-2010

road tune.

RE: Project 'Juiced' starts tonight - NikiterZTS - 05-11-2010

I guess it was Open source.
On a side note:
was helping a buddy putting turbo back on his '02 last night.....omg what a nightmare with all rusted bolts,nuts...heat shield was brudal. Coming back tonight for more.
