Focus Rally Brake Kit Install. - Focus man. Focus. - 08-17-2010

Well it all goes in tomorrow. I dropped the car off at the shop tonight on my way home and they start 1st thing in the morning. For those of you that don't know I initally wanted to do all of the install myself but got hung up on the driverside CV shaft being stuck in the hub. So I gave up on doing it myself.

Here is the list of parts being put in.

2 CV Shafts
New lower control arms
Steering knuckles
Hubs & bearings
New pads, rotors, and calipers(2005+)
Flex hoses

I can't wait to finally get the vibration out of the front end. It was getting really bad under hard braking. Plus they are going to fill my 17's nicely.

Did you get the CFM adjustable arms or replacement OEM?

Just aftermarket stock replacements. My car won't be seeing any track time or anything like that. Just a little more stopping power for commuting.

how much is that all going to cost for labour?

I find out tomorrow. I trust the shop where it's at. It won't be that bad. I don't think it will more than 4 hours.

Well the car wasn't finished today as the shop had planned. They needed to order up a pinch bolt for the left lower ball joint. I can wait one more day. I did see her up on the hoist and man of man, those brakes look good. The mechanic even commented on how thick and meaty the rotors are.

I got the total for the repair. It is about what I was expecting. $500 cash. Not bad considering they put in close to 6 hours labour so far. And I have a loaner car in the meantime. Can't wait to get her back!

She is all done and stops on a dime. I haven't really stopped hard with her yet as I am waiting for the pads to settle into the rotors. But so far so good. Smile

did you do bedding on those pads?

ya i sure hope you bed the pads in, once you do that you can brake as hard as you want and everything should be fine. thats the one mistake i made with my fronts is i forgot to bed em in, luckily i did it in time before they glazed over
