the junkyard down my street sells them for $450 (Sonshine autoparts), Lecavalier in Quebec sells some even cheaper, I've seen some low as $250.

check out car-parts.com for their inventory.

If you find a low km's motor, make sure to do a compression test to it before doing anything. as long as compression is good on the motor and ofcourse fuel pump is proper for the application you should have no issues with the kit and tuning.

best of luck leo and if you ever need a hand swapping in another motor let me know.

i have seen a few low km zetec on kijiji... check em out and do a compression test when you get the funds to do so.

thing is though, low km is very hard to find and if there is, it is 250km away from my place. and price was close to 500+..
then i might need to do timing belt changes, water pump and other stuff..then i figure buying brand new engine from the seller on kijiji will save me more money..

trying to sell stuff but seems like no one is interested..

Try Hilltop Autowreckers in Aurora. Like I told you already, they sold me my engine for 400+ tax (500) and delivered it to the shop that did the engine swap. The engine had 40 000km (actual 398xx) too so it was very low mileage (and was out of an 04)

removed engine from car and found out more damages.

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - stupica1 - 11-08-2011

hey if you need an engine cheap i have a zetec you can have for like $200, has 350,000km on it though. but its in mint shape, well maintained motor. do a quick rebuild and she'll be good as new. haha

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - Mystake - 11-08-2011

WOW that's alotta miles for 200$

give that thing away for free dude or stick it in a go cart.

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - stupica1 - 11-08-2011

haha things in mint shape still, compressions still good on it and everything, no sludge inside, i rip the s**t out of that thing daily. lol i have a rebuilt zetec in my garage with about 1000km on it, but i dont think i can part with that one. lol not for cheap anyways. forged bottom, rebuild motor, every gaskets new.

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - Mystake - 11-08-2011

let me put it into perspective...

400+tax got me an engine with 1/10th of the mileage of yours. Also you just said you rip the s**t out of it daily... not trying to be rude but at this point I wouldn't give you 50$ to take it away, I'd ask for 50$ from you to make it disappear, especially if it's the engine in your '01 (so it'd be a 10 year old engine)

If you think about it, Kona's engine probably had good compression and all that before it popped and had less mileage than yours did.

Then again, I could be 100% wrong and that engine could go for another 150 000km. I just don't think that's likely so if I were in your position with another engine waiting to go in I'd just pull it and give it away (or keep it and rebuild it)

Again, I'm sorry if this comes off rude or anything I promise you that's not my intention.

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - konafocuswrc - 11-10-2011

hmm..thanks for y'all throwing out ideas and suggestions.

for me, i dont feel like to trust used parts anymore unless i dead set on rebuild whole engine.

i trusted previous owner, who was mechanic(yeah mechanic who doesn't know how to diagnose) but look what outcome was.
fuel pump got never taken care under recall, he might have swapped engine thinking it was engine problem or just cluster to fake what actual km on engine.

it only had 130000km and drove perfect, i really test drove for an hour to find out problem.

then 5 months after i bought the car, i found out fuel pump is dying slowly.

i dont feel like to spend more money than what i need to get my car on the road.
i am not going to rebuild engine, i am done with focus.

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - Mystake - 11-10-2011

just make sure when you swap the engine that you look over /everything/

I think it's the crank position sensor mounts on an automatic mated engine mounts differently than the one on a manual mated engine.

Unless, you'll be paying someone else to do the labour?

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - SL8RZZX3 - 11-10-2011

Try Standard Auto wreckers
http://www.standardautowreckers.com/

When i seized my engine i bought my replacement from them and they offer an additional lifetime warrenty package too
you can also select what engine you want from the site and they will have it ready for you
or deliver it to the shop of your choice ( i think it's extra for that not sure)
the engine i bought had 60,000 on it

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - hardk0re - 11-10-2011

The SVT I bought was an 02, it had 100K on it when the previous owner had the same issue (fuel pump failure). chunked a piston. So the fuel pump failure on a boosted motor is just plain bad news. You can't really blame previous owners these things just happen, and when your modified the impact of failures can be catastrphic (as you found out).

Good luck to you Leo. Hopefully things work out for you, if not theres probably a lineup of people ready to buy your parts Tongue

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - Flofocus - 11-10-2011

yeah....sorry to say this, but you cant blame the previous owner for the fuel pump. Part of buying a new car is doing your homework which would include ensuring all recalls and TSB's have been performed on said vehicle.

And yes, the crankshaft position sensor is different form auto to manual, don't screw yourself like I did.

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - konafocuswrc - 11-10-2011

major problem was fuel pump but i do not blame on previous owner not take care of recall.

i learned my hard lesson already, i am not a teenager kid blaming on things..

stupica1 offered used engine with high km on it, i am just trying to say that i do not feel like to buy it unless i plan to rebuild.
like i said earlier on post 228, i am going to buy low km engine or new if possible.

jonathan and i will be doing the swap. couldnt do much without him.

RE: Blew engine - Oct 17th/2011 - konafocuswrc - 11-14-2011

RE: widebody - shadowzx3 - 11-15-2011

Just grab a cheap block, bore it out, put some nice internals and you'll run all the boost you want. Its the right way to go for boost and reliability.

RE: widebody - konafocuswrc - 11-15-2011

money

RE: widebody - buzz2.0 - 11-16-2011
