HEYYYY Was this directed towards me lol? I did that way back when, sorry but money talks. You should of had bids for it with all that interest. I've actually seen car forums with an auction type sales section.

Well its not really a wrong practice, me I don't like doing it. But its no different than realtors having people submit bits on one day and taking the highest offer to work with...
Not calling you a douche, in fact I don't even remember what the item was so it obviously wasn't that important

Houses on my street are selling in 4 days for 107 to 112% of asking price using the short-term highest bidder technique - and that's more than double what I paid for it 9 years ago ... it's very tempting.
