New Daily Driver - 02ztsian - 04-06-2013 New daily driver-it's a 2000 Ford Escort 5 speed red with dark charcoal interior. Sold the Merkur-it was beginning to develop more rust and couldn't keep driving it in the winter. Plus the cost of premium and a longer commute meant I needed a cheaper daily. Bought it from a couple who have owned it since new. Great mileage and fun to drive. Pics... The day I brought it home... Nasty front bra (I think it's from the Kirstie Alley collection). Dirty! Clean slate! Why car bras should be removed occasionally. All clean. Picked up some summer rims-just like these. Size 16x7 with 205 50 16 tires. I really should just leave it alone but I once the mod habit starts... First mod I did was to whack 3¼" off the shifter. Waiting for the weather forecast to swap the summers on. More later. Lots of Mazda bits fit on them too, since they are really a Protege with a Ford drivetrain under the skin. Looks like a good project! Also looking at a header and lowering springs next. RE: New Daily Driver - 02ztsian - 12-22-2014 Those are technically SES rims re-painted in Tremclad charcoal (yes they do make a wheel paint). Came with a short shifter-have added a Borla race exhaust (no resonator) that I scored for under $17 from the local PnP. Also a 4-1 Focus Sport header, 2¼" flex and swapped over to PW/PM from manual. Added an S2 front lip and an SVT rear spoiler since this picture. On the shelf-Vogtland springs, MOOG end links, euro grill upper and lower, euro glass fogs, ported Y2K intake and SVT throttlebody (trying to see if I can make it work) and heated mirrors (painted caps of course).
