mercury cougar rims on a focus - rnzo86 - 12-05-2013

Hey guys just wondering if a mercury cougar rims will fit on a focus its got a 4X 108 pattern

Yes but the offset will be different. It may stick out of the fenders or stick way in... But they will fit.

The rims won't but your choice in tire size and speed rating will.

Cougar 15 inch wheels

size: 15x6.5
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.28"
Bolt Pattern: 4x108

Cougar 16 inch wheels

Size: 16x7
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.51"
Bolt Pattern: 4x108

Focus 15 inch wheels

Size: 15x7
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.59
Bolt Pattern: 4x108

Focus 16 inch wheels

Size: 16x7
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.47"
Bolt Pattern: 4x108

Focus 17 inch wheels

Size: 17x7
Offset: 49mm
Backspacing: 5.94"
Bolt Pattern: 4x108

First, use the resources on the net. A good place is Tire Rack (US). They have diagrams to explain how bolt circle, offset, backspacing and size relate. For the most part, a few millimetres offset one way or the other will not affect much. In fact, any Ford 4 bolt by 108mm diameter (Focus, new Cougar, Contour, Mystique, Tempo, Topaz, old Escort, old Mustang) wheels will fit.

But double check when you fit the wheel. On the front, turn the steering wheel as far as possible each way, bounce it and check for clearance. Bounce the rear. While it is great to just use the specifications, it is more fun to do it hands on.

Here are a few photos of my cars. The Focus has 17" SVT rims (and everything else as well is SVT). The Taurus uses 5x108 (same as new Focus) and we are using 17" rims originally on a Volvo.

I had Cougar rim as my winter set. Worked perfectly.

My focus is an svt will that work also

RE: mercury cougar rims on a focus - SVT-WGN - 12-07-2013

The safe answer is no. My SVT-WGN brakes are 300 mm in diameter. A sixteen inch wheel may clear the calipers, only a trial fitting would confirm this. So all my wheels are 17" in diameter. The spare wheel is the stock SVT 16" steel, note steel wheel and it does fit, except it is ugly as hell and wears a doughnut tire.

My steel are 16 I was just unsure when it comes to the rims

Any OEM Focus alloy 16" rim will fit over the SVT front brakes.

My brother has Stock 15" Mercury wheels on his ZX5 no issues so far. Used the same tires he has on his stock Focus 15"
