Winter build thread: GFXjamie - GFXjamie - 02-22-2014

Well things have started back up and tapatalk is working again so time for more pictures. I did some more work last night on the car since I was home and couldn't contain my self

Incase you are wondering what I did, well I finally got my cosworth coil cover. In order to install I had to completely revamp the wiring harness over the valve cover. I removed the alternator wiring and any wiring not used under the cover (tps, iac, alternator, second harness plug and a few others) now only coils, injectors and the couple sensors run into there any everything else was re-routed and everything re loomed. Didn't take pictures as I was trying to pay attention as it isn't easy on pre 08 duratec as we have more sensors some how.

Also installed lower rad support and new rad and upper support back on too. Getting closer that's for sure.

Should have turbo bolted up tomorrow and it back on all 4's again. If I'm lucky I'll have it started up with all the fluids too.

Winter build thread: GFXjamie - GFXjamie - 02-22-2014

Spent some more time late tonight working on it. Didn't get started until 930 or so and wrapped it up around 12.

Finished removing ac compressor and all lines from the bay/fender

Finalized engine cover mounting just need to replace with stainless socket cap bolts when bolts plus is open next week. Fitted the turbo and ran all the oil and water lines for it. Installed inlet pipe and hooked up MAF. It is ready for hot side piping which is all that is left, one pipe and hook up DV again. Them second piece of downpipe then subframe and back on the ground. It has really cleaned up ALOT since I started this. It has pretty much become a wire tuck without the intense extending of massive wiring harnesses and dangerous routing through body parts.

Enjoy the engine porn

Simply a thing of beauty. Everything looks soo killer and clean put together. Now you just have to fit that front lip and you're good to go.

Thanks Brandon. Went back to the shop after some walking dead to try out some new detailing stuff I got while I was in the states. It's from a company called perfection products unlimited. I used the tire shine and dry wash and wax. Came out pretty great if you ask me! Tire shine was used on anything rubber, vinyl or plastic. Dry wash and wax on all painted surfaces and used some ultimate compound on my buffer to smooth up the front fenders and bumper a bit as they were a little hurtin

I gotta give they guy who made this stuff a shout out. He makes the waxes himself and even gives his personal cell phone right on the bottle. They are available online to order and really is good stuff. Also got one step metal polish which I used to polish up my cf cover and some of their euro class wax which is a mixture of carnuba waxes and is pretty slick.

Anyhow, engine bay is finally done and had car drive around the block today. Definitely needs a little touch of camber out back to clear the tiny rub I heard and to straighten up the steering a little better. Added eibach 5mm spacers up front as wheels didn't clear the bilsteins big shock body and locking collar. Seems to fit pretty good still.

Looks great Jamie, I'll be posting ur bay next week

Winter build thread: GFXjamie - GFXjamie - 05-13-2014

Been a bit since I updated this thread at all. Here's a quick Coles notes version of what has been missed

Touched up front lip and painted red. Decided I wasn't happy with it yet so didn't mount to new bumper but did to old beater bumper. Got new 2005 st front end shaved painted along with hood and svt skirts down in Pittsburgh. Got em all mounted this past week and car plated Tuesday for the road.

Then me and Taylor took the weekend to go to Carlisle performance and style after a long hibernation, what a better way to clean up sticky injector and get some hard miles on both cars since Taylor's car hasn't made a trip longer than an hour run since building it. Ended well since we made the journey without incident and both cars for outstanding fuel economy. What a blast

Got featured in the clean focused display invitational hall and Taylor was 2 points off best of show ford losing to a fully built fibreglass turbo mustang 5.0l drift car (it's always a mustang right???)

And there we have it. Plated it at 138037 and now have over 1394xxkms and finally a clean idle and cruising afr too. No wiring issues or anything which I'll be straight is surprising based on what I had done I didn't have one hiccup on anything - I think the meds are working LOL

RE: Winter build thread: GFXjamie - Scorcher000 - 05-13-2014

That's awesome buddy. And yes a mustang will always win even if it's rice out or the Mustang showed up and left. (SLC productions Shows).
Did you tape or plasti-dip the front of the cars. I can't tell via phone lol

RE: Winter build thread: GFXjamie - drunkinmonkey - 05-13-2014

looking good dude!!! has come a long way for sure. she cleans up nice

RE: Winter build thread: GFXjamie - ZX3_2NV - 05-13-2014

Car is looking great and i'm glad to hear it's running well.

RE: Winter build thread: GFXjamie - _JET_ - 05-13-2014

What's the difference between the regular bumper and the 05 st bumper?

Car looks awesome btw

Winter build thread: GFXjamie - GFXjamie - 05-13-2014

Fog light bezels and upper grill is all. I had the lower grill cut out also on this one just like my other one was

RE: Winter build thread: GFXjamie - _JET_ - 05-13-2014

Oh cool, I never noticed. Looks really good. I will have to see it in person soon

RE: Winter build thread: GFXjamie - 2000zx3sct - 05-13-2014

It is always a friggen mustang that wins , last year the few shows that I went to the mustangs always dominated the ford catagory . I really like the change on the hood.

Winter build thread: GFXjamie - GFXjamie - 05-13-2014

I'm pretty happy with where it is at. Finally something I am truly happy with... Mostly. I need to do something with the seats. I have a set if recaros coming to me from the eap svt focus but for racing I want something small and light. I need to add a little cushion to the bottom as they killed my tail bone on long drive. Aside from that I dealt with that and lack of ac during the warm drives. There is no such thing as a quiet ride either but that's race car life and going light weight. I gotta bring it in and weigh it but my god what a difference from even when I had a basic rear stripped out before this winter. The wheels really help a lot on acceleration and everything is just about fine tuned for the corners aside from front camber.

Been great so far and there will be more updates yet for this car

RE: Winter build thread: GFXjamie - Scorcher000 - 05-17-2014

I'm glad your finally happy with her lol. But do you want some braided line for your catch can lol

Winter build thread: GFXjamie - GFXjamie - 06-15-2014

So I have been having a lot of fun lately. Some know most don't, but I killed 16 valves 2 weeks ago after crank pulley came loose when I made a downshift to fourth gear.

Fortunately John had a head which was going to Brandon so I intercepted it and threw it on to get the car driving again. After this I was plagued with issues, it was misfiring and no matter what I did nothing changed.

Short list of what I did....
- o2 sensor
- maf sensor
- throttle body and tps
- gutted pcv and ran to catch can, vented vc to atmosphere
- removed cosworth manifold twice and re sealed to head and top plate down
- cut out melted section of boost gauge hose
- finally changed spark plugs... (The ones I removed were installed day before dooms day)

So sparkplugs ultimately were the fix. Had I not been so trusting in new spark plugs I would of sorted it out prior.

Drove it to Carlisle running in such form and did some of the parts replacing on site at motel 6

On to the new stuff, while at focus rising I made a deal with another member for his autopower 4point cage for a deal at 400$.
Installed while there also... Ofcourse why not

Not a great pic but I'll snap another later. Needs a quick repaint but otherwise it's in the car and holding strong. Really stiffened it up I was quite surprised at the difference with it in there.

Over the last two weeks I have been picking up pieces from an 05 at cambridge auto wreckers. It was relatively complete so I swiped a bunch of small things. Vents, stereo bezel, interior screws and clips for door panels, antenna base, hatch string for Taylor's car, maf, wiring harness for part of engine that I will use to re do some of my under hood wiring a little different.

Also changed up my gauges, wanted to do more of a frog eye look on the column. Here's how it all came together now that I have just front door panels in
