did the cable break or did the mount for it break..
My mount recently broke and i hold the it with two hand and pull it apart.. My one hand acts like the mount. But if its your cable I have no idea.

well one option you can do is do what I did, and just take out the interior latch for the hood & cable and just install the european hood lock with key.... of course you have to chage your grille and cai cover. not to mention get the hood open to do this...

well if the cable is broken and you can see the cable it's just a matter of pulling on it with some vicegrips.
