Super Mario Wii - Focus man. Focus. - 01-05-2010

We picked up Super Mario Wii a few days ago and are quite impressed. It is really fun and has some throw backs to the original Super Mario Bros for NES. It is quite expensive @ $65. But so far it is worth it.

yeah I got that for my nephews for Christmas, a long with the Wii, and all the remotes, it's kinda funny as all 4 players have to go at the same time or they die lol it's kinda funny to see all 4 people jumping to enter the same tube at once lol

Has anybody done the Softmod to their Wii? If so where did you get the software?

Super Mario Wii - euro_zx5 - 01-06-2010

Ya I got it for xmas with a new wii from my gf, loving it so far! As for the softmod, i'm looking to get it done to my old corrupt wii. I tried booting off some files a few months ago with no luck, so I may take it to a local 'repair shop' and get it back to life. I found the files on the net through a google search, but none worked... who knows. Let me know if you find anything that works!

Super Mario Wii - ANTHONYD - 01-07-2010

We picked up Mario Kart over the holidays. We drove all over the bloody place looking for it.

Great game!
We still need to pick up the new Mario.

I'm learning that if you stick to Mario games on the Wii, you'll be fine. There is a lot of s*** out there for the Wii.

There is alot of cheap random games but then there are some decent ones NHL 2k10 Is Damm fun on Wii and for groups the tennis matches are wicked.

I'll put in a plug here for the EA Sports Active exercise program for the Wii.

I'm not 100% sold on the accuracy of their calories burned counter but I can tell you after 5 months of it (four of which have been on the high difficulty rating) there's definitely muscle tone where there wasn't before.

The exercises definitely make you work, even on the "fun" exercises like the tennis or basketball court drills. esp. if you also have a Wii Fit exercise platform to team up with it)

Another plus is the fact that generally speaking, even on the 30 day challenge mode, you're done in around 30 minutes per session (In 30 day mode you work out two days, isolating different muscle groups and are off one day after that)

I've heard good things about the EA active. We have WII fit but we hardly use it do you think Active can keep us entertained?

EA Active does a great job of "mixing it up" and making sure that you don't burn out on any particular set of activities.

For example in the 30 day challenge mode after a session that emphasizes a lot of squats and jumping, the next session will switch to upper body work to give your lower body time to recover (which is especially important for someone like me) It also mixes up how you do certain activities by including fun games to do them to (The rollerblading for example is actually a modified version of the jump squats that are a separate exercise themselves)

I do it as often as the program says to (every 2 out of 3 days)

Really the trick is to make it a routine thing so that your body actually misses the workout. In my case I do it as soon as I get home from work or on weekends/vacation right after I get out of bed.
