have you painted your brake calipers? And if so, what color? Is it fairly straightforward to paint them? Any step by step instructions? What color would go with a silver body car?

I painted mine black, silver car.

Clean them good, and follow the instructions on the can. Buy caliper paint.

I painted mine Ford blue to match the blue interior lighting theme I have going on in my car. I just took a wire brush to them to knock the crap off them first and then used engine paint on them. Paint has been on for a year and they have held up just fine.

Black looks good, or any shade of gray.

Brightly colored calipers look good on fancy big brakes, but when you're drawing attention to small stock brakes on an economy car (or worse yet, brightly painted brake drums), it ends up just looking cheap most of the time.

mine are blue.

wire brush, soap and water, let them dry, paint them, let sit for 10 minutes, 2nd coat, let dry for 10 mins, 3rd coat (heavy), 1 hour later, you can drive on them.

thats using Dupli-color caliper paint

cool....okay so black sounds good for my silver focus. So I just need a wire brush, some soap, and then paint and repaint? (using caliper paint).

I'm assuming you remove the brake calipers from the disc right? Although its probably possible to paint while its still on with the tires but probably a hassle.

X2 on mine as well.....it matches any color of the car really....mine are waaaaay to rusty looking

Painint Brake Calipers - PerfectSaiyan - 12-04-2006

no dont have to take the calipers off to do all this. if your using brush paint like the duplicolor paint it, dont bother, but if your using spray paint, just mask off the areas you dont want painted.
