Gas Mileage Question

with the Svt mixed highway/city i average 460km. w/ a 44l fill up
the acclaim with a v6 gets the same, sometimes better milage. average in the acclaim is 520km with a 52l fill up

Guy I talked to ( owns a focus) said he unplugged his battery to reset his computer and it made a big difference, think thats bull?

you are actually using 89 for an SVTF??? isn't that kind of dangerous? or is the only reason you using 89 instead of 91 is because it's SOOO cold outside? are you getting any problems and any loss in power?

I know that works on older speed density systems, because it has to relearn the program, so if you baby it for the first while that style makes a difference, but on newer mass air systems the change is not very dramatic at all. You may pick up another 20km to a tank but thats about it. So YES that is BULL

No 89 is not dangerous. No power loss either. Your mileage may vary - but my SVT does fine on 89. I might change to 91 if I were running fully loaded, with wide open throttle. There's some variation from one engine to another, and the 91 rating listed in the Owner's Manual is conservative. The SVT does not have noticeably high compression ratio.

Also, octane requirement decreases in cold weather.
