Wiring Aftermarket Speakers
#1
ok, those of you with aftermarket speakers, i'm just curious how you guys wired it. I took apart my door 2day, trying to put in my speakers, i was going to solder the wires directly to my speaker, but when i took the clip off, there was only like an inch that i can play around with, and if i cut the clip off the wires, and wish to have room if i want to hook up my stock speakers at a later date (selling the car), there won't be anything. I was just curious if anyone got a clip for the speakers from like ford or something, or if they did anything else...can you guys please help me out here, i'm dying to get my sound up and running

I soldered in an extention of wire , then soldered to speaker and done. Need to better wire this summer anyways.

that's what i was thinking of doing, or i might just bring it to future shop or something, let them deal with it, i dunno yet tho, i kinda like doing it myself, that way i know things are done to my specs

I cut the factory plug off. I attached a 4" piece of wire by using one of the crimp tubes (don't know what they're really called). Then I wrapped the tube in wire tape so it won't come loose. I also added a female connector at the end of the wire corresponding to the width of the speakers terminal it was going to clip on to.

i originally wanted to do that, but nowhere around here let's you try the sizes of the connectors before you buy them (they're all tight asses), but i think i'll prob just end up buying some speaker wire, and do that, sounds pretty simple

um... take the clip off the stock speakers, solder it onto the new ones, and plug them in??? Should be a 10 minute job. Was for me

My speakers had 1 1/4" from the magnet to the spot for the clip. it was plenty

iT'S A HIGHLY TECHNICAL PROCEDURE THAT INVOLVES A PAIR OF SCISSORS AND JUST THE RIGHT ANGLE TO MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE WIRES... :)

JUST KIDDING...

I' JUST HACKED MINE OFF.....ADDED ABOUT 4-5 " OF WIRE....CRIMPPED ON MY ALPINE CONNECTORS....AND BAM...

WHEN I SOLD MY zts i JUST REATTATCHED THE WIRES TO THE TERMINALS ON THE STOCK SPEAKERS AND THREW EM IN..

iT'S EASY..

Just trim away some of the black fuzzy wrap around the wires. That will free up enough to go in a reattach new wire.
