Turbo Charging A Spi
#1
Is it possible to turbocharge an SPI based focus. I don't plan on doing anythign to my engine for a few years yet due to warranty however once the warranty is up I wouldn't mind looking into forced induction of some sort...either turbo or supercharger.

Yes it is possible, There is someone on focaljet who has done it and the spi gave him good numbers too. try to look it up and if you need some more help just ask me.

If you want to talk to someone straight out, PM 'WATERBOY' on FocusFanatics.com

He 'used' to have a SPI turbo (not sure why he got rid of it) but he's also going to be a moderator on that site also so very knowledgeful.

ThraxXx will have an easier time than I would, cause I'd have to Lentech the prick.

Apparently the magic part for it all is a Turbo 'Scort header (89 vintage). I did some reading-up on it, but ultimately I'd rather carve corners than make snails sing... at least in this car :D

I priced some lentech for a quebec customer last week.

I was a bit surprise to see their stages hp support. It seem to me that they should have a stage 1 and 1/2.

their stage 1 is up to 175 hp (not realy worth it if you wanna boost)
their stage 2 is up to 275 hp

but the price difference is quite big between stage 1 and 2.

They might be able to custom do a tranny for 220 hp area which would be best suited for a mild turbo car in my opinion.

just curious what a stage 2 would cost?

Stage 2 is around $2000 USD + $700 USD for the torque converter. $2700 US + about $200 for shipping, lets make it an even $3000USD to take into account further shipping etc.(Im not counting the core charge here either...) Then comes installation, theres another 600-900cdn depending on who does it...

In the end I figured I would have dropped $6000  to make my car lenteched stage 3.

It was much more economical to trade the car in and buy a manual, with less kms.....of course its still going to need some work on the tranny, but allot less than $6000
