What A Weird Week...
#1
Anybody ever have one of those weeks where
- your doctor clears an organ of concern to find a lump somewhere else
- your ex-girlfriend that you haven't spoken to in 6 years (for good reason) decides to get in touch again
- you're conducting business with a peer when they are 'downsized' in the middle of your transaction and being escorted out while your stuff isn't even done?

There's been a few other things, and nothing serious, but it's a bunch of little curveballs that just put you off balance and really make you wonder what's going on? and if it weren't for this damned diet, I could really go for a friggin' beer...

here's hoping next week goes a bit more 'normal'... :(

I was there wed. night!

How were the wings Bryan????

As for you Steve.

Stay away from the Ex girlfriend, that's nothing but trouble. You didn't lose all weight to turn the head of your ex.... That's counter-productive.
My week was also wierd. Remember that job interview I was telling you about over lunch??? Well I went, and after sitting with the Creative director for 4 hours and 3 bottles of wine, they made me an offer. An offer 40k MORE than I'm making now.

Now for the tough part..... Telling the company I've been with for 6 years I'm going to try other options.

I haven't slept in a week.

This week hasn't be normal at all. If cash wasn't so tight right now I'd have been drinking last nite.
I would agree that ex's are generally a bad idea, stay away.
Take care of that lump.

Wow Anthopny thats a great offer. I would take it in a sec. Now days i dont think there is any company loyalty. If they find someone that can do what you do and pay him 1/2 as much, you ass will be out in a day. So congrats and go for it. As long as there is no hidden catches!

Puppet, the Ex must of been from the old days when you used to "Drop the hammer" those days are over. Stay away from the ex. There must be a reason why they are called Ex's :)

BTW i saw your car the other day. The guy who had it, got it from a dealer in Brampton. He had no idea that the hammer guy was his car. So i told him that he has a very famous car and he should take care of it. I think he is looking to sell the S/C.

Anthony, seriously, your too nice of a guy.

Take the money and run, don't burn your bridges, tell them the offer and what it would take to keep you there.

They will wish you the best with your new job.

Get back to regular sleep.

Yow, sounds like fun all around...

Aside from the nasty surprise that my personal info is floating out there in cyberspace, the only other weirdness is watching the head of Legal Aid's IT Dept. respond to an email on a listserv like a 16 year old emo child including the extra "!!1!" that make me wonder if he's on his way to burning his way out the door.

DP: Stay the HELL away... I don't care if she's offering herself as a slave, ex is ex for a reason....

Anthony: I'd be honest with your current employer, say that you were offered a position that offers you more money and opportunity but that you'd be willing to stay if they were willing to meet whatever goals you want. It's only fair to thee both of you.

This isn't against anyone here personally, but the mindset of most "ambitious" folks of late is what has caused a massive decline in employee loyalty.

If you like working there, you like the atmosphere and staff... talk to them. Give them the whole story.

40Gs is a lot of cash, but is it worth it to change companies, move your pension s*** and everything just to find out down the road it doesn't work out?

It's all about what works for you, man, irregardless of what we all have to say. I'd colour it "tempting" with that much extra cash on the table, but I'd weigh it all out first. Which I'm sure you're doing too. ;)

Best of luck, bud.

No pensions in advertising guys. It's every man for himself.

Hence the incredible income later in your career. (Provided you've earned it)
They said the award I won this year had A LOT to do with their offer. :)

I'm taking the offer. I made my mind up today!

I'll keep you all posted.

All that work and there's no DCPP or similar plan offered? Not what I expected. Good luck in the new job!

dood, trust me, that's what I told her when she broke up with me and then decided to try to get back together again a month later.

and besides she's married.. likely just trying to show off, or whatever, anyways, It's not me to be a prick tho, so it's just been.... weird... figure I'll just walk away, not like I need to, or should worry about this s#!t anyways.

Hey Anthony, congrats on the job offer. In the end, all you can do is tell your company what's up and see if they are willing to match the offer. The unfortunate truth is that companies will always go with their bottom line, and if you can find good work, and worry about your bottom line at the same time, you should do that.

congrats!

Tell him, to take the S/C off, he's gonna have to do the following:
- replace the stock battery tray
- replace the low pressure, and possibly high pressure powersteering line
- replace the tune/injectors/MAF
- shorten/repair the MAF wiring harness as it's rewired for remote air temp sensor
- replace air box, intake track, etc
- plug hole in engine block skirt
- plug hole in oil pump pressure
- fix coolant lines
- replace radiator coverne clips (metal was damaged by TT a bit too, so they'd have to bang the holes back into shape to make it fit
- and check the wiring distribution to make sure removal of the water tank/plug is alright
- move the horn back to stock location
- replace dented exhaust heat shield
- remove boost gauge/02 sensor and plug exhaust bung.

that's a lot of work, and a lot of parts... tho I do have a box of the parts that were pulled off I could sell for $100 (including injectors)... no guarantee all parts are like new tho... the TT guys removed a lot of stuff without consideration... they did a piss poor job (and one of the reasons I took the dealership up on it's offer to take the car back).

seriously, it's not really worth taking the s/c off that car... it works good, and while the tune is alright, a little work on the idle control valve functions, and decel spark, and it'd be perfect.
