Amp Not Working? Can't Figure Out Why?
#1
While the power was out yesterday I decided to install my second amp. I've installed a single amp many times with absolutely no problem in many cars including my own. I've never put two in the same car, however, and I think maybe I need to do something differently, but I don't know what. I was planning on installing some 2 ga and putting a distribution block inside the car, but for the moment I just ran the wire right to the battery. The amp is 400w, and I'm using 8 ga cable. I have another amp, 340w, also on an 8 ga cable.

A little background info... I know the amp works. :P

The only wire I didn't run completely new was the remote and I figured I could just tap into the existing remote wire and it would work. Now when doing that, the amp I'm using to run my sub still turns on, but the new one doesn't. What could be the cause? A bad ground? And if so, how can I test it? Otherwise, do I need to install a special kinda wire splitter for the remote wire? Something like this:

Let me know! Wanna fix it today if I can

You shouldn't need to run a new turn-on wire, just tapping into to it like you did should work fine. I would check the ground first. Make sure its held down tight to the grounding point, I had this prob with my old pioneer amp in the focus. Other than that, if you've got a voltmeter, check to make sure you're getting voltage at the amp. If i think of anything else to check i'll let ya know

I know there's power coming in, because when I accidentally touched metal with my power cable I had a huge spark :P (fuse not blown)... the ground is as tight as s**t.. but I'm still not receiving power... weird...
