I dont know why they just dont drop the 2.3 in there and pump the hp up to a safe 190..........nevermind thats something Honda, Chrysler, GM, Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota would do.

As long as there's a turbo attached to the block. Unless, they could do all-new gearsets for all the revving you'll be doing to make more than 190BHP on the current engine design.

There's not a lot of room left on the 2.3L (even with VVT or something similar), I believe Mazda has "only" 160ish our of their iteration and the Fusion has 160 in the 2.3L.

Plus, turbo = big secks appeal. High-revving daily drivers = "Nooooo! Monica!"*

Better air flow (in and out), ECU re-program and a limiter to 8k, Im sure you can hit 190.

New top end, perhaps a head rework... and the ugly idea of 91+ octane on a N/A factory daily driver when the Duratec 3.0L V6 makes 220+ all day long on 87.

It's all about perception. You and I don't have a problem with the idea, but most folks would.

I find it ironic that they did in the '08's what I already did to my '05 (The aluminum look dash) but I'm really digging teh upscale interior with everything that can be set on autopilot...

Would save me the hassle of getting frozen or fried until I can safely change temps on the knobs :P

It also has vvt.......and that engine should be putting out way more hp then 220

its not hard to get 190hp out of a 2.3....and you could do it on 87octane.

Yep, an escort with a focus name plate! The only euro focus available is the volvo C30, it's the same as the focus ST. But it's really expensive! It's better to buy a Fusion 2.3l and to do it up. If ford want to sell the "new" focus to me, well they better do some work on that car!!!!!!
Civic's sucks!

We may want that, but 95% of the people that buy this car , care about MPG, not 190hp.

Actually the 2007 Mazda Sport GT only has 156BHP and 150 lb-ft. The Fusion technically has 4 more HP and 6 more lb-ft of torque. The Focus ST has 151BHP and 154 lb-ft of torque.

Now, if you want to talk disparity, the Mazda 3 with the 2.0L has 148BHP while the Focus has 136. Torque-wise it's closer with 135 lb-ft and 133 lb-ft, respectively for the Mazda3 and the Focus.

I'd be surprised if they do ... hasn't Ford already announced that NA will get the Euro/Global Focus when it's replaced in 2010? Which means that this one will be around for maybe two model years at the most.

Unless of course FoMoCo in their wisdom has decided that North America wants only a coupe and a sedan and have reversed the decision to merge NA and Euro Foci.
