The battery cable has a fusible link. and is connected through the harness....

Now may be the time to do the big 3 and use an upgraded power cable from your alternator to the battery

Sounds like the alternator is toast anyway. But... check that harness on the back that nass was talking about..

the harness was broken on both my cars. and that would definatley cause a charging light.
