Pioneer is alright.... but there are better decks for the money. Especially if you dont want anything flashy..

going with

Front Speakers - Focal Access 165a Components
Focal 6.5" Coaxials Rear
Amp Highs - Alpine MRV- F345
Amp Bass - Alpine MRD-M1005
Subs ... he's either going with a Single 12" Alpine type X
or 2x 13" Focal Polyglass subs.

Front Speakes - Alpine Type S 5x7
Rear Speakers Clarion 5x7
Clarion 4ch amp 50x4
Clarion 1000w amp on bass (1000peak) rumored to be 700rms
2x Clarion 12" DVC subs.

It all depends on what youre looking for/ How much you want to spend.

I've done countless other systems in different cars. But there are examples of what you can do on the cheap. while still doing the job right.
