I think I'd be more worried about them being out-of-round - that would really affect the ride and you can't tell if they are just by looking at them.
I got so p***ed off looking at used wheels that were out of round I actually invented a device to measure it, and that's what I used when I bought the S2 and SVT rims that I have for sale.
