hey guys.....as some of you probably notice the weather started to be a little bit softer on us......so i started to see more cars on the roads with their summer rims out......i checked the weathernetwork.com and they are saying that we are not expecting any snow......well maybe one day 0.25cm but thats nothing
i commute alot latly prior to my work so i need a better gas milege...and winter tires don't really give me that
anyways, what do you guys think?

with the winter we had, i would say its time to add studed tires and keep them all year long :)

Lots of people have already switched to summer rims, I laugh at them when I see them. Its pothole season! Nice way to destroy your rims. Salt is the least of your worries when you consider 6" deep x 2 feet wide potoles.

i switched my mom's car onto it's winter rims.... but that's only because i did her rear drums/brakes. and they're only my 15" stockers with summer Kumho 712's
Hopefully i can afford to get my focus on the road this week and it will be on it's summer 18's, but that's only cuz i was too lazy to take them off last year
BUT yeah as Kevin said watch out for potholes!!

too early... not to mention the weather network changes everyday... and they always forcast something with rain or freezing rain weekly... I have to pay attenetion to the weather all the time since I work outdoors now.
after all April and very early may is when we normally get our last dumpings of snow before spring really gets into high gear.

If I wasn't working, I'd be on my summer tires.
Of course, I have beefy OEM wheels, so I'm not too worried about them dinging..

if you are using a azenis sport RT615, advans, s-03s, kumho mx or some similar tire that is temperature sensitive i'd wait until the overnight low temp is consistently above 40F for 3 weeks before switching over. it is scary/dangerous getting caught in the last snow of the year on aggressive tires
however, it seems that most guys here run really mild commuter tires in the summer such as falken 512, kumho spt, so really its just a matter of whether you are ok with the potholes or not

I'm not going to wait a month, but at least another couple of weeks. I've changed to summer's early twice, and on both occasions a major early April snow storm followed shortly after.
I think/hope I've learned my lesson...

Well since im running the stock p6's now Im not going to put the winter tires on. If I had summer tires I would wait at least untill the middle of April. We always get a good storm in April, plus the pot holes wont be fixed until May

I'm with pretty much the same general consensus as everyone else.....wait... for at least another couple of weeks so at least the roads get cleared from all the griminess that the winter left. Plus it will give the road crews a chance to fill in those grand canyon sized potholes that would pretty much swallow our cars whole!

I always wait A WEEK AFTER I SEE THE FIRST STREET SWEEPER.
The cities don't usually bring out the sweepers until the potholes are filled.
It's way too early fellas.
I too laugh at the goombahs out there sporting their summer rims already!

Put mine on when I got the new tires installed last Saturday. The day before I polished and put a good coat of Mothers wax on the rims.
Great so far B)
Plus the warm weather wears the heck out of my soft winter tires.
Old enough to know me limit, yet young enough to exceed it.
