Getting on the on ramp from the 400 to the 407 a silver V6 stang pulls beside and looks over to give me the thumbs up, I drop it a gear give him a couple of tourquies if you can call them that cuz it sure didn't feel like anything but a bit a noise(cuz I am used to my Saleen Mustang Tourque) he downshifts and I hit it, were right beside each other in 3rd, I bang 4th were still beside each other top of 4th about 6000 rpm I begin to creep on him and when we both let off I was about half a car length ahead of him, I was impressed but not impressed at the same time. ?......should an svt focus have enough to pull on a V6 manual stang? anyway it kinda put a smile on my face to realize that my car which i think is slow beat a V6 Mustang on the highway. I'm 100% positive he would have pounded me from a dead stop.

Uhoh... Put on the flame suit bud...
Streetracing is a NO-NO in these parts.
05 Altima SE-R
98 Grand Cherokee 5.9: Flowmaster; K&N
05 300C 5.7: Sold
99 Civic SIR: Sold
03 Focus SVT: Sold
01 Focus ZX3: Sold
I wouldn't exactly have called it a street race, 2 gears and let off, sure we were speeding but the average 407 speed at 9am in the morning has to be at least 135km. And this is something I prolly do once every 2-3 years, I am much more of a cruiser than a racer. scoobasteve,Jul 14 2005, 06:16 PM Wrote:Uhoh... Put on the flame suit bud...

street racing = bad
the v6 stang is 210crank hp, you should pull on him when your in the upper range of your gears.....
after the dyno day were only a jump away from cayuga, why don't all you street racers come out and show us what you got on the dyno or after I'm heading to the track.....

I racd a v6 stang when all I had was an intake & exhuast. He won, but maybe by like 1/2 a car.....not every much. So Id say you shouldnt of had a problem beating him.
And street racing isnt bad
Street racing anywhere around kids/seniors/schools/busy roads/etc is retarded.
I street race all the freakin time. Race with the cows yo! If you guys actually got mad at me for where I race others, I'd seriously laugh my ass off right in your face. ;) .....Frig, the track probably introduces more dangers to me than a 50km straight stretch of road in the farmers fields.
if i'm gonna street race i won't waste my time with my 16+ sec focus I'd bring my stang. hardk0re,Jul 14 2005, 06:29 PM Wrote:street racing = bad

there are straight county roads all around where i live, most surrounded by fields wiht no animals. and racing past 3rd gear is stupid anyway, especially going light to light or down a county road.
last night i went against my buddy in the turbo escort for shits n giggles, it was down a deserted county road with no ditches and no house. both lanes were extremely flat. I took him of the line cause he gets no traction on the POS tires he has, i had him thru 2nd but as soon as he hit 3rd gear he was gone. anything rolling and he smokes me. we both let near the top of third cause there was really no use in going any furhter. plus it was 1130 and we passed all the cops on our way out of town.
if your gonna race you gotta do it responsibly. and know your surroundings.

The track is at least a controlled enviornment. I don't want to start something here, my feelings on street racing aren't good....I have my reasons.

hardkore, I'm sure you do, so I won't go there.
But I can agree with you that these punks that set up street races with spectators and all that crap is indeed retarded, but lets say you come down to Ottawa and you want to do a quick 'test' with me. ....Obvisouly we wont drive 45 minutes out to the track.... We'll drive 15 minutes out to the farmers roads and do a quick pull to 100-120 or whatever and shut her down...thats all Im trying to say....and if a cop saw us doing that, we would be charged with street racing, but I dont think it deserves 6 points off my license.
I would never race in the city, or on a busy highway or anything like that, cuz yeah....thats stoopid.

if you and the other guy are really trying to prove whos car is faster, there is no better place than the track. but if your jsut out to have fun, make sure you know waht your doing
the more remote the location with less things to hit, the better.
and you telling me no one on here hasnt gone for a highspeed run? ill run my car faster down a county road alone then i will when im racing someone, cause yes after a certain speed, 2 cars travelling next to one another is not safe. you have to know when to let off which goes back to the responsbiel part.
and everyone is entitled to their opion on racing, my buddy in the escort wont race noone and barely speeds because hes already got too many tickets(from before the turbo) and hes tryign to become a cop. common sense needs to prevail!
almost all of the "street racign accidents" happend on busy roads that shouldnt be raced on and there is usually some stupid factor involved wiht it.

theres "street racing" and then there is "good ol' back country racing" there the roads that are usually clear and always deserted, that you always see the burnout marks from all the V8 muscle cars and what not that rip down that road, but theres a reason, that this road is always chosen, because of loaction and the tendency for traffic
you jsut cant be stupid about it if you are gonna do it.

Unfortunately, to the cops around here, there's no difference.
Both result in 6 points and a hefty fine.

id have to agree with some of the points on street racing, and like myself,i am against it for personal reasons
but if your in the middle of noweheres-ville, just you and another guy, plenty of room, then it is less harmless...but still.
but all you need is one thing to happen, for it to change/ruin your life and/or view on it...
some people have already been through that, maybe some will be lucky enough not to experience it.
I wish my grass was Emo, so it would cut itself...
